D&D 5E (2014) DM gave me a helm of teleportation, am I a jerk for using it?

In the last series I played, we got to a high bluff and peeked into the courtyard on the place we were trying to get into. We waited ten real minutes while the DM laid out the mass of forces we saw waiting for us past the gate, placing the minis for tons of foes, barricaded gates, heavy blocked...

D&D 5E (2014) please post advice for novice DM like myself

I've got one of my own, but first... This. You can get yourself lost so easily by describing the wrong thing in too much detail, or the right thing in not enough. I consider myself a very experienced DM, and this is probably the mistake I make the most. When you (me!) get wrapped up too much in...

    20 years of playing D&D

I started gaming in '79, aged 12. I started with D&D but didn't stick with it. By the third year of High School. I played several others. By early 90s, I had left D&D entirely for other games. Picked it back up in 2018. So I have maybe about 15 years of D&D, Maybe 10 years when we were exclusive.

Sweet, I already have one of these. Lemme go read it.

Renegade Studios Sends C&D To Stop Small Creator Using The Word 'Renegade'

I was trying to think of a way to express my feelings without using any of my go-to words. This is it. RGS - this was a unworthy move, and even though it's resolved, the devil take you. You're like the crappy bully older brother who dangles his little bro over the Grand Canyon, pulls him in...

Gloomhaven RPG Crowdfunder Hits $1M In First Hours

Yeah... I'll check back when there is more info on the RPG. The Board Game (and board games in general), doesn't matter to me.

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

You know... I had my own crazy, worthless scum-pretending-to-be-a-person stalker for a few years in gaming spaces. Sad cretin unable to come to terms with the fact that all the hate he got from all over was the direct result of how he acted toward other people, and he decided I was the...

D&D General Another idea for a perfect crime in Dnd, the defendant bribes the jury to ensure their found guilty

First of all, while this might be an interesting (probably not) plot for PCs to get involved with, I take issue with considering this even remotely, and tongue-in-cheekily, a "perfect" crime. It is a hot mess of convoluted planning with so many ridiculous variables, any one of which will kill...

Plot help for a Star Wars campaign wanted

The Sith Lord's Home. Not a secret base. Not where he relaxes from a hard day of bursting hearts. It's the place where little Jimmy grew up, some out of what way settlement getting by on farming or something, happy memory of childhood the Sith Lord tells himself he's keeping it just to go back...

D&D 5E (2014) PHB on Amazon $26 and in the three for two book sale.

Sadly, there aren't 3 I want. Or even 2. Are any of the adventures worth getting if there is a 0% chance I'll run them? Like... new rules / cool fluff / etc?

D&D 5E (2014) Thematics for Sorcerer dip for a character who is a creepy Fey Warlock/Ranger

Open to 3rd party? I really like this one. It's pay what you will, suggest price $0.00 https://www.dmsguild.com/product/347869/Sorcerous-Origin--Arcane-Infection I introduced it - with player permission - in my own game, infecting a barbarian with sorcery. :)

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

This isn't sinking. This "person" hasn't fallen. The sick, twisted creature - this caricature of a human - has plunged to new depths, deliberately foregoing its humanity in its blind quest to become the worst thing ever.

D&D General Where is magic prohibited in your world??

Haven't really considered the question. But in one of the jobs one of the mercenary crews did... A hobgoblin woman from the Iron Kingdoms got the crew to help her. It seems her brother had become Prince of her city. This is done by combat, and he's always been a bit of a weakling who suddenly...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

I'm running a game that's actually three interrelated games, which has for the past year been building to a big, world-threatening event. Last night we came one step nearer the final countdown, as mercenaries hired to steal back something super dangerous from a high priest of Bahamut, realized...

Freebies, Sales, and Charity Bundles for May 28, 2023

In my ongoing game, in the city, there is a tea house. There, the lovely gnome Meriska will gaze into the eyes of her customers. She divines their essence, who they are, who they were, how they feel today... and then blends each customer the perfect blend. So... I had to buy this.

Really looking forward to the new Michael Keaton Batman film coming out next month.

It makes me profoundly sad that someone thought it was a good idea to keep making a movie with a broken stair, that they decided to do Flashpoint, and then that after I've already decided to skip another DC Dark Universe movie they put Michael Keaton in to tempt me back in.

horror games that you love (that aren't 'world of darkness' or cthulhu related.)

That it, right there. Pacesetter. One, Two, and Three on my list. BtS, I enjoyed for a while but I really treated it more like "Modern Fantasy. We were probably playing it wrong. Nightlife, I never got to play but I LOVED reading it. "Splatterpunk." I wanted to play a Penangalan. Mayfair's...
