    Towards a Grittier d20 Trek!

Mmmm ... this will do ... yes, this will do nicely, Jephkay. Mystery components, intriguing. Selecting templates, starship construction has begun. Damn it Verec, I'm a game designer, not an interior artist. Ask Jephkay. :D

Which system for a Star Wars game?

Right, Puerto Rico. So the "Jejeje" is saying "Hee Hee Hee". Was wondering about that :D I'm having trouble with the force as a religion because really there's no need for faith. Jedi powers are quantifiable: He can lift this much with TK (Alter), She can manipulate this many autonomic nerve...

Which system for a Star Wars game?

Ofcourse, no offense and I thank you for heeding my advice thus far, but ... How can the Jedi tolerate a known corruption of their traditions? I cant conceive of the Jedi, as an ELITE order, marketing themselves to the masses. What do Jedi care of their popularity? They show up and lives are...

    Towards a Grittier d20 Trek!

Not harsh, no. Your project, you're the one that'll get sued, this earns ya editorial power :D I've got D20 Future and Future Tech, they've ... got problems, but it's doable by the RAW. All of Trekdom fits in Progress level 8, no big deal. Specifications are needed from ya though. How big...

OK, I'll get on the Wanderer with my house ruled d20 ship system. Will explain difference from norm as needed.

    Towards a Grittier d20 Trek!

Jephkay, how about if I do the Wanderer, you look it over, and from our combining notes we determine how to do all Starships? Use L. D. Johnson for my name, if you'd like. So for thresholds, Injured is Fatigued and Wounded is a penalty that stacks on top of Injured's penalty (-2 + -2 = -4)? I...

    Towards a Grittier d20 Trek!

Ah. I must've confused the Admiral with his ponchy, desk-piloting peers. ;) Injured and Wounded levels with Fatigued and Exhausted game effects, OK. No Mas, check. The Cover: is that the rarely seen Borg Dodecahedron, or a Tholian Dreadnaught? :D Is that how the Wanderer looks? I was gonna...

Which system for a Star Wars game?

Those roles are interesting, a radical re-imagining I wasnt expecting. They make sense given what we know of the characters though. I'm curious about this religious order, it doesnt seem to fit Jedi philosophy at all. Not everyone has Jedi potential, the Force doesnt answer prayers like a...

I like the thresholds but using fatigued and exhausted are simpler and already explained in the Modern book. Str & Dex -2 means -1 to all physical skills, attacks, defense; exhausted means -3 to them. I imagined a new "Taxed" level in between these two, STR & DEx -4, but thought it too complex...

CODA is the die system used for Decipher's official Star Trek RPG. It reminds me a bit of D20 but the primarily roll 2d6 with modifiers from various things. I like how in their damage system getting hurt ... hurts. ;) My suggested change to HP is much simpler than how they do damage though...

    Towards a Grittier d20 Trek!

Well thanks for the acceptance. I envision him portrayed something like Mr. Garrek with a touch of Tuvok (if he were Romulan). I just revised his description to match his skill selection. He's got those roguey skills to reflect that he may be stealing or hustling up equipment for the ship and...

Which system for a Star Wars game?

I'm glad to see Tarkin and especial Thrawn thrown in there. The Grand Admiral is my favorite EU character. You wanna discuss their new portrayl, or is that too much of a spoiler?

In the Characters chapter, what does "Vital Statistics" entail? Height, weight, age stuff? I agree with kirinke, the Modern psionics fit well with what Trek shows us. I'd suggest some kind of proximity modifier though. Mind melds seem to only work when touching the target (bonus to save DC?)...

Which system for a Star Wars game?

Maybe Mace, Yoda, Palpatine, Dooku and perhaps Padme (dunno how you see the fall coming about). Dont see the need for anyone else. I'd have the extinction of the Gungans be an off screen war atrocity. :D

I'll contribute ... Nimal If no one ever trusts a Romulan, the Wanderer's chief engineer gives them no reason to. The only thing Nimal can be relied upon to do is take care of the ship and it's systems with a quiet grace that makes it look simple. Crewmen that abuse or mistreat her, as...

Which system for a Star Wars game?

Yep. Now imagine if Africa was a big as the Mid Rim. ;) I envisioned small scale battles going on throughout the Pre-Clone Wars Republic. Whenever the Republic's attention focused here or there, elsewhere another power was bending/breaking the Republic charter to snatch more resources. Their...

Which system for a Star Wars game?

I was tempted to answer this myself, but wanted to give Sunglar a chance to respond -- as it was directed to him. ;) Such a question came up in my campaign, which had a similar starting status to the one Sunglar is making. After the war that reformed the Republic, new territories previously...

So if a PC/NPC gets hit thats pretty much it for them for the combat? That's Trek consistent. That is gritty, and will definately give new value to Diplomacy. ;)

    Towards a Grittier d20 Trek!

Yep, seen all of them. Dont wanna get on a DS9 worship sidetrack though. I'm sure if they dont wanna damage surroundings, no max level. But how often can you stage fights in China closets. "Dont want to destroy this sacred alien temple. I'll just set my light-size phaser to level 3 thermal --...

Yeah, I'm a Niner too. Never heard of Larsons before, they look like crap, but I'm sure it was glorious victory worthy of song ... <Klingon cliches> :D I'm still wondering on the damage thing though (and what happens if you fail the ability checks for SF Medical). I could see...
