D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

From the new Steam news Post: Probably best to read it on Steam since this forum had some issues with the formatting of the post. Where to begin. This week has seen you take to the streets of the Lower City as amateur sleuths in Blood in Baldur’s Gate, a community murder mystery to uncover the...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Are you talking about Batman 89? That had a $48 million budget and made $411 million worldwide, it certainly made money for Warner. It did also revitalize the Batman brand with the public which WB has been benefiting from for decades.

    D&D 5E (2024) Review of 1D &D VTT

I wonder how many groups actually run a 100% RAW D&D game. I got a feeling a good number of DMs have at least a few homebrew rules which might turn a lot of people away.

WotC Hasbro Bets Big on D&D

It's not like the VTT is going to be a one and done thing, I imagine we'll continue to see official DND content come out just as quickly if not more quickly than the past few years. I'm guessing all newly made official WotC content will need to be in the VTT when it launches on Beyond and in...

WotC Hasbro Bets Big on D&D

I had forgotten that apparently Hasbro had hired 350 people for D&D Beyond. I assume that's mostly for the VTT but Hasbro must have sky high expectations on how much money it's going to bring in to hire that many people. If it doesn't do gangbusters I could see the D&D division getting some...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Honestly I suspect the 2 biggest reasons the film stumbled at the box offices were 1. Release timing. Way too many movies coming out around that time, with films that were already fairly large film franchises or big media franchises, like Creed 3, John Wick 4, and Mario. 2. Does the general...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

Even though it probably didn't get a "wow" reaction from the community I thought standardizing what levels every class gets subclass features was a good move for streamlining the game. It could also allow things like subclasses that work across multiple classes.

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Yeah I imagine that the Super Mario movie took up all the premium/higher priced screens from Honor Among Thieves after it's first weekend and kept them to itself given how well Mario did, which really hurt HAT box office take.

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

New York Times has an article about Universal's VOD strategy, which includes Universal talking about how much some of their recent movies have made on VOD. Unfortunately it is paywalled but some relevant quotes here: The top grossing movie of the year, Super Mario, made around $75 million...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Ehh I want to see the film succeed because I loved it and want a sequel. I'm also being realistic based on it's box office numbers. It probably lost a good amount at the box office based on its budget and marketing costs. I hope it makes enough at the secondary markets to get a sequel but I'm...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder Gallowspire Survivors videogame announced

A Steam page for BKOM's second Pathfinder game just went up. It appears to be a Vampire Survivors type game. Personally I enjoy Vampire Survivors but I'm disappointed that neither of the 2 announced Pathfinder games are CRPGs using the 2e rule set.

D&D Movie/TV “Honor Among Thieves” Now Available for Purchase (iTunes + Amazon Prime)

It will probably eventually stream for free on Prime in the US. Amazon and Paramount seem to have a deal to eventually stream their films on Prime after Paramount Plus, I watched both Sonic 2 and Top Gun Maverick on Prime for free. It's not the same day as Paramount Plus though.

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Pretty much all Fox shows (at least the ones made by their studios) are going to be on Hulu, they were part of the Hulu joint venture before Disney bought them. Arrested Development isn't but that's because Netflix paid to produce the 4th and 5th seasons.

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

I really doubt D&D hitting #1 on the VOD platforms is really all that "meaningful". It's a new, big budget blockbuster. I can't imagine any new big blockbuster not hitting #1 on release week on VOD platforms. The vast majority of sales on those platforms on any given week are either going to be...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

The factor of 2 is accounting for the theater's cut of the ticket sales. Movie studios like to keep contract terms close to the chest but studios take 60%+ of domestic sales (in was a big controversy when Disney asked for 65% for the Last Jedi ticket sales) while they get less overseas due to...

Pathfinder 2E What does Pathfinder lack?

I don't really mind the different bonuses and penalties in Pathfinder 2e but I only play it in Foundry where most of it is already done for you. I wonder how I would feel actually playing it on a tabletop. Advantage and disadvantage might just be better in that situation. I think it would be...

Pathfinder Abomination Vaults Hack & Slash Game Coming To Kickstarter

The trailer only has the Steam logo, I'm guessing it's coming to PC first and will eventually be ported to consoles.

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

One important thing to note about Knives Edge franchise is Netflix was paying for production for 2 movies plus extra to make up for the fact they wouldn't be going to theaters (as as far as I know blu-ray/VOD/TV) so they were paying a premium for Knives Out 2 and 3. One interesting guess on...

WotC Anyone Else Tired of the Wizards Bashing?

Nah. Even when companies release products I like I think it's important to criticize and push back on bad decisions, and Wizards has sure had a few major bad decisions in the past few months. If people roll over to bad, anti consumer decisions they're just going to push further and further...
