    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

I would say it's not a perfect comparison but I believe there are enough similarities to find it useful in the discussion about if D&D is considered a success. Do you have another film that you think would be a better comparison?

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

My comparison has more to do with how well known the IPs are, budget and talk about a sequel based on box office. It's a good compasion point of what a big studio would consider successful enough to fast track a sequel (and the fact the DND movie probably wont hit that). There might be better...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Honestly I don't think coming up with ideas for a story or the lack of a sequel for the game is a big issue for Detective Pikachu 2. I think it's a really good comparison just because it's another big IP (honestly Pokemon and Pikachu are probably much better known with the general public than...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

If the film eventually does break even we may eventually get a sequel, but the process will likely be slow moving and may sputter out before it actually gets into production. I would suggest looking at Detective Pikachu for an example. It's a film from an even more popular IP than D&D, had a...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Objectivity they're not. They made several times their budget from box office alone so tyey eithermade a good amount of profitfor the higher performing ones or were around breaking even for the lower performers. The DnD movie will only make around it's budget or a little bit more at the box...

    D&D 5E (2014) Could D&D Die Again?

I do get a feeling Hasbro is expecting the VTT to start bringing in reoccurring revenue from most players similar to (but probably not as much as) MtG. And I just don't know if many players will be willing to put up with the amount of micro transactions I have a feeling the VTT team will push to...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

The show I went to last Wednesday was also pretty full though that's likely because Mario had sucked up so many screens at my theater they only had DND on two screens that day.

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Here's some recent estimates from movie trade magazine Deadline on how much The Batman and Thor Love and Thunder Made Given we know the budget is around $150 million dollars the marketing spend is probably at least $100 million worldwide, Honor Among Thieves will probably eventually at least...

    D&D 5E (2014) Could D&D Die Again?

I believe Wizards said in the creators summit that the VTT is in pre Alpha, I would guess it's years off from supporting any other games if that's something Wizards decides to do.

    D&D 5E (2014) Could D&D Die Again?

It seems like Wizards is spending Anton of money on One DND, especially with the VTT. I wonder what their measure of success will be. I could see a scenario where One DND does better than any other version but is still considered a disappointment due to how much was spent on the VTT.

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Ehh Paramount has a lot of big franchises (Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Top Gun, Transformers, TMNT, Sonic the Hedgehog, Scream). I wouldn't say D&D is their best card to compete against famous franchises by other companies. Maybe fantasy franchise but not every company has a big fantasy...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

It's not, but it doesn't seem likely the movie will come close to making back it's budget plus marketing with the theatrical run. Big budget movies like Honor Among Thieves are expected to turn a decent profit, not break even or eventually crawl to profitability with streaming/TV/VOD sales...

ToV Project Black Flag Reveal Its Official Title: 'Tales of the Valiant'!

There's a long running JRPG series "Tales of" TTRPGs and JPRGs aren't the same thing but do have some crossover audience. Honestly I'm a bit surprised they would go with a name that could be easily be mistaken for being another entry in a long running videogame series

Pathfinder 2E 2 New Pathfinder Videogames Announced (Update: Abomination Vaults game confirmed)

Hopefully at least one of them is. Doesn't look like Bkom studios has made any CRPGs before but then again Owlcat games hadn't made any games before Kingmaker.

Pathfinder 2E 2 New Pathfinder Videogames Announced (Update: Abomination Vaults game confirmed)

Paizo announced today they're teaming up with Bkom studios to release 2 new Pathfinder games. One will be releasing later this year on Steam, one is in early development. No details on what type of games they'll be yet as far as I can tell...

    D&D Movie/TV DADHAT hits $80,856,963 box office

March was a packed month with Creed 3, Shazam 2, John Wick 4, DnD and Mario. I'm surprised some of them didn't get moved.

Mario is looking to be a monster at the box office, it's probably going to take some of D&D's screens.

D&D Movie/TV Guess the D&D Movie Opening Weekend Box Office Performance, and Win a Prize!

We'll really need to see the legs the movie has in the coming weeks to really determine if it's a flop or not. Typically $150 million movies have at least $100 million in marketing budgets, probably bringing this up to around $250 million spent. Theaters take around 50% domestically for most...

    D&D 5E (2014) Turning Perception into a Saving throw?

That's sort of how Pathfinder 2e works with traps, when you have a character that's searching while exploring the GM rolls a secret perception check with that character vs the stealth dc of the trap to see if it's noticed by the character or not. It's not exactly a saving throw it's a check but...

D&D 5E (2014) More details about the VTT from D&D Beyond

I'm currently running a PF2 game in Foundry and I agree it can be easy to learn and use for certain type of people. It does require some technical know how and a willingness to troubleshoot if you self host. There's also ton of modules which require research to see what all you should...
