Ran a multi-year campaign sandbox in the Dalelands; the players never once went near Myth Drannor. They went into the Underdark instead.

Played through the demo and had a blast, even though a few combats felt very BD&D with their flurry of misses. The exploration, puzzle/trick, and combat mix were about right for a B/X game. I'll be interested to see how the "return to town" dynamics work, assuming they have some.

Just tripped over this new digital dungeon crawler ... free demo on Steam pending release of the game. Has a very OSR feel with the black & white art and old mechanics. It also reminds me of playing Eye of the Beholder back in the day. Video intro:

For campaigns I used a lot of pieces from published adventures. Seldom the whole thing, but a map, or a keyed dungeon, or a set of encounters. I put more effort into how the things connect, and what options will arise from layer choice -- typically trying to have three options for each major...

There is only one sauce, and it has ridges from the can. Thanks for the tip on the garlic cloves in the balsamic sprouts; I haven't tried that. My recipe adds chopped walnuts and chopped dried cranberries.

Well Strahd's really just Dracula in D&D drag, but that's how you differentiate this from everything that came before -- the vampire has a different name! And instead of Van Helsing, vampire hunter coming for him, it's a ranger, barbarian, magician, thief, cavalier, and and acrobat.
