5E D&D Lead Editor Job Posting Mentions "TRPG digital tools licensee"

I thought this was interesting. A recent (5/28) job posting on the WotC jobs site mentions, among its major accountabilities, the following: "The Lead Editor manages the relationship with the TRPG digital tools licensee, providing new TRPG content for the tools, and approving new tools...

Kickstarter How does a Kickstarter Bleed Money?

Rather than the bubble bursting this strikes me as more of a Wild West to civilization transition. The platform is simply maturing, and that's a good thing.

Kickstarter How does a Kickstarter Bleed Money?

Why would the bubble burst? It's not being supported by imaginary dollars, and Kickstarter projects have a couple years of delivered results. I don't even think there is a bubble to burst in the first place.

4E Dragon 421 is up! Level-by-level Multiclassing for 4e; Dragonlance Items; Draconian!

There aren't many advantages I can think of, but being able to access articles in-browser on my smartphone would be one of them. There might be a plug-in that can take care of that, but it doesn't come with it.

Kickstarter The REBUILDING EN WORLD Kickstarter Project

Congrats, Morrus. This is one hell of a testament to the strength of this community and our desire to see it continue to grow.

Kickstarter Questions on Kickstarter and the Tabletop Community

Does a low ($10 or less) contribution level encourage you to take risks on Kickstarters you might not have otherwise backed? Do immediate backer rewards (early access to specific things, for instance) encourage you to back risky products?

Kickstarter Questions on Kickstarter and the Tabletop Community

Great info! Another question: For higher-tier (including novelty) rewards, what balance do you strike between setting the price of the tier versus how much the reward itself will cost to produce? For instance, if you made one of the reward tiers include a commemorative dice set, how much of the...

Kickstarter Questions on Kickstarter and the Tabletop Community

I'm in the process of getting familiar with the Kickstarter model for getting tabletop gaming products to their funding goals. I know that there have been a handful truly incredible runaway successes - not the least of which is the ongoing EN World Kickstarter Morrus has going - and a lot of...

Baldur's Gate - Something Is Coming

News is circulating today about the revival of the Baldur's Gate official website. The teaser is reportedly unrelated to the upcoming Steam release of the Baldur's Gate series, so whatever it is will be an exciting reveal. The Kotaku article discusses the possibility of an iOS port of the...

4E WotC this is something you absolutely cannot screw up in 5E like you screwed up in 4E

Why? If they call a creature a "Macetail Behemoth" and the name displeases you, call it something else instead. Problem solved. Are all of your critical issues so easily addressed by the one making the complaint?

4E WotC this is something you absolutely cannot screw up in 5E like you screwed up in 4E

I really don't think it is, actually. It certainly is a tiny change, but I'm inclined to drop this into the category of game features that people like to complain about, but which have little or no impact on a person's decision to play that game. As you note, it's a very easy fix. So easy, in...

Chalk this up in the "Not anywhere near as big a deal as people make it out to be" column.

4E Did WOTC lie to 4e players about 5e?

Oh dear lord can we avoid the whole, "I heard from an internet person that WotC lied to everyone!" thing this time around?

    4E Things I Learned From 4e

I honestly find a single computer screen much easier to manage than a DM screen, Player's Handbook (for rules), Monster Manual, adventure booklet, and personal notepad. It's also a lot less to cart around. I think that, no matter what edition of D&D I run, I would feel crippled without access...

    4E Things I Learned From 4e

I'm not really sure that's supportable. The initiative rules in 4e are outlined in the PHB, and take up about one half of one column of one page, and really don't require any further reference to determine how they work. Meanwhile, the Diplomacy skill takes up about a third of one column of one...

    4E Things I Learned From 4e

On Monsters: I think 4e got monsters right, mechanically. They're pretty much spot-on, especially from MM3 onwards. They are individually interesting, easy to run, and straightforward to reskin. The stuff outside the statblock is much less important to me. Solos, elites, standards, and minions...

4E What's so bad about 4th edition? What's so good about other systems?

Don't forget that planar travel rituals only start showing up in Paragon tier.
