D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

IMO, that's more of a Warlock than a Necromancer. I realized the spell schools for those spells are "neceomancy", but i never got why they where categorized in the first place.

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

Those 2 aren't mutually exclusive. Perhaps not the same spell/feature. But easy enough to have both. I haven't heard anyone say they want to track individual things. Yes. Doesn't have to be the only thing they do. No. That's what a DM is for. No. Things have moved away from alignment...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

I don't see how a subclass feature that buffs a spell is 4e style. Arcane Trickster had invisible mage hand since day 1. Or do you mean the horde-as-squares? Yea, kind of. But I'm not sure how else to say make a moveable wall.

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

Sounds more like Unseen Undead Servant. Which could be a level 3 Necromance feature. When you cast Unseen Servant, you can gain an undead instead. Casting it in this way increases it's Strength equal to your wizard level, and the distance it can be away from you by 10' per wizard level. that...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

Attempt 2. More of a moveable wall thing. Summon Undead Horde Concentration, up to 10 minutes. You summon a horde of mindless undead. Choose an area on the ground made up of 10 5-foot-squares and is 5' high. Each square must be contiguous with another square. Any creature that starts it's...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

I was more thinking Web, but moveable. Which seems spot on for a 3rd level spell. IMO grabbing+some damage is very thematic for a horde of zombies. But you should also be able to kill them and fight your way out. Same as any other summon. Also I expect Necromance subclass will buff it...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

Conjure Animals Undead Horde Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute. You conjure nature spirits mindless undead that appear as a pack horde in an unoccupied space you can see within range. The pack horde lasts for the duration, and you choose the spirits' animal form, such as wolves, serpents...

D&D General Arcane Subclasses UA Survey is up

I'd rather see it be something like.. Only half your levels (rounded down) can be a prestige levels. Spread it out bit.

D&D General An At-Will Warlock, Warlock’s Curse, and an Idiosyncratic Recharge Idea

    Quick calculations. Level 5 Eldritch Blast deals 2d10+8 = 19* .6 = 11.4 Magic Missile 3d4+3 = 10.4 Burning Hands 3d6 = 10.5 * .75 = 7.875 So a level 5 warlock casting level 1 damage spells at-will (not healing Word or Command), seems fine.

D&D 5E (2014) Can you retry a failed skill check? How long?

IMO, no risk, no reward, with more retry's being more and more risky. Otherwise why roll?

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5e 2024 Monk Handbook

Nick is an easy 1d6->1d12 damage (* accuracy) Nothing wonderful, but not bad. HM depends on the level. Less than 5 Bonus action to cast it means you lose 1d6+3 (* accuracy) and gain 2d6 (* accuracy). Basically a wash on the first turn. But more damage if the creature survives multiple rounds...

Agreed. But it's likely more than once per short rest. Yea, still probably the best. Maybe they should switch it to the end of your next turn. Or don't add any damage.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

That's certainly a valid opinion. But it applies to BM as well. Well I screwed it up. Curving shot can be used every round, but I only added it once per short rest. And every ready shot can add another die or 2. So AA does even more damage than I calculated. I'll point out that Curving Shot...

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

I think your missing a few things. AA effects are much stronger. Restrained >> Trip, especially for a ranged attacker. Many of the effects roll twice the damage. Curving short doesn't take a die. It's just a bonus action attack if you miss. To put some quick numbers to it. AA adds 6d6 (21) at...

You may have missed that Banishing is +1dx Where most others are +2dx You also lose the opportunity to focus fire. You did damage to someone your allies can't target. Compared to Blind which gives your party advantage to hit it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Armor as THP?

If a level 1 wizard can do it at-will with 1 action, then i don't see much issue with a fighter being able to repair armor over a short rest. Besides, I expect half of it is grabbing your helmet that flew off, tightening laces that came loose, getting slime out of your boots, pulling arrows out...

Mending 1 action Restore 1d4 armor points At higher level: at level 5 eestore 2d4, 11 restore 3d4, 17 restore 4d4 Small enough to not be worthwhile in combat (unless your an Armorer Artificer with some big bonus). But refillable with a few minutes work.
