One Ring 2E - Who's Doing What With It?

Very jealous of those who have it already. Mine is in the city but won’t be delivered until 2 Feb.

Tell me your experiences with RIFTS

My experience did not last long - the lack of balance and poor rules lead to the game ending after one session which was a pity because I really liked the setting and kept buying the books for a while after this. All I remember of that game was that I played a baby dragon.

Is there one RPG to rule them all? What version?

The One Ring. Because that's what is written on the inside. (The) One Ring to rule them all, (The) One Ring to find them, (The) One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them. But I guess if you manage to throw all copies into Mount Doom there could be another.

Let's Talk About Fantasy heartbreaks and other FRPGs

Calling every other fantasy rpg a "heartbreaker" pretty much makes the term meaningless since all it then means is "a fantasy game that is not D&D".

Need vague predictions, preferably in poem or ballad style

Vague and hazy predictions most dire, ...perhaps a stomach ache, or a world on fire!

Is open source a losing proposition for new rpg's

With regards to Dungeon World, just remember that the original release was funded via Kickstarter. So I think they made money, and the PDF is still being sold via drivethrurpg so it may still be generating income.

Is open source a losing proposition for new rpg's

For this kickstarter shipping is to be charged via backerkit so shipping costs aren't counted in the final pledge total. So the amount collected goes towards only paying for the production of the product. And the game itself has already been released as previews etc so I'm not sure how much...

Let's Talk About Fantasy heartbreaks and other FRPGs

I thought when compared to AD&D 2nd Edition (which I was playing at the time) they were perhaps better rules. They addressed some issues I had with with multi/dual classing, had a skills system, and had very evocative classes. Unfortunately the system was never updated.

Let's Talk About Fantasy heartbreaks and other FRPGs

My first non-D&D fantasy RPG was Middle-Earth Role Playing, more commonly known as MERP. My group played as a break from our usual AD&D 2ND Edition game. My favorite non-D&D fantasy RPG is Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WFRP). Neither I would call a fantasy heartbreaker because one other...

RPG Print News – Cubicle 7, Chaosium, Free League, Arc Dream, FrostByte, and More

I was not.... but now that you mention it I cannot see why you cannot and given your lack of interest in the AoS setting, yeah, sure. Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Soulbound core rules provides guidelines to creating custom Archetypes, and while you'll not have career paths to navigate (which is...

    [Adamant] FAR WEST Kickstarter Launched

There still is a website with artwork. I think the game is in development hell of the developer's own making. As an aside, the appearance of this thread made me think a new kickstarter for the game was being launched.

The Proper Use of Nudity in FRPG Art

I am not an American, but perhaps "niche market" is not exactly accurate for movies. "Smaller market" may be better since an R-rated movie has excluded children under 13 (and their parents who are looking for a movie to take their children to) from its audience. This isn't to say that targeting...

The Proper Use of Nudity in FRPG Art

I think the fundamental question for a publisher is "who do I think my target audience is and will my product appeal to them". If a publisher thinks their target audience is everyone yet includes gratuitous nudity then they are fooling themselves because its likely many potential buyers will...

Vote For The Most Anticipated RPG of 2022!

I was looking at the creation of a thread with poll, and looks like I might have been wrong. Older versions of the forum software may have had this behaviour, but perhaps no longer. So I am now as puzzled as you unless behind the scenes there is a brief delay before the poll shows up.
