Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

One thing I have learned over the years, never make clues hard to discover.

D&D's New Solo Player Guideline Explained

I think that what we are getting are soft suggestions, not really playtested to give an option with low cognative load. As distinct to running sidekicks, companion characters and the like.

D&D's New Solo Player Guideline Explained

So, 5 temp hp per level per characters for 2 players, or 3 for 3 characters. Give inspiration as appropiate

This will not happen because no money can be made taking steps in this direction.

    D&D 5E (2024) Solasta 2 and the 1/2 elf

Mechanically how were they represented, I do not remember for 5e and do not have a book handy.

    D&D 5E (2024) Solasta 2 and the 1/2 elf

I would allow it, or be open to another interpretation of the half elf/orc. Are they not needed for Ebberon?

D&D General D&D Version of Boardgame Horrified Coming In August

Looks interesting, Also looks like a quick play, with a variety of things to do in a turn. (at least from the tom Vassel review of the original game). Did not care for Wrath of Aschardlon and the like.

D&D General How do I find spells that both rangers and wizards can cast?

sorry accidental post, that did not work

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone else surprised they didn't do a Forgotten Realms Feats, Spells, and Circle Casting UA?

I have not really thought about, until you brought it up. I am not sure the UA process is the same over the last 4 or 5 years or so, as compared to further back. I think the UA process is more of a sniff test, "is this going to get acceptance?" from the player base. They only ask if they are...

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

I would like to add that in my example the fighter is doing about 36% more damage than the cantrip, sufficient, I think to demonstrate the point.

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

I gave a simple example; I did not feel the need to get into it any more than that because I presumed that the other person could work the rest out for themselves from my example. Feel free to give your own answer.

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

I was giving a simple example for a person that they were not a math person of the math. Keeping it simple and not trying to show the most optimised options. Is that ok?

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

Yes, they deal more damage per swing but less overall given expected opposition. A fifth level fighter with +3 in stat could be expected to do 0.6*(1d8+3)*2 = 9 DPR whereas the wizard with firebolt would be doing 0.6(2*d10) = 6.6

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast promises to release more “CRPGs that are going to be as serious as BG3” without Larian

It is still one of the few directions they can go if they want to squeeze more money out of the IP. And the hits make up for the losses. The biggest issue with WoTCs efforts is that they keep taking the big swing instead of starting out small and building up a team and experience. WotC has had...

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

It is scaled by their attack actions, and they often get some extras that boost it further taking martials generally outside the range of casters for single damage targets. 4e gave everyone encounter and daily powers that generally did more damage than basic attacks. They scaled by replacing...

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast promises to release more “CRPGs that are going to be as serious as BG3” without Larian

I will take your word for it. I have never delved into the financing of games but I suspect that has elements in common with movies and the like. In that, they fire money at the wall and sees what sticks. Hoping that the successes pay for the failures. A winning team can have a number of...

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast promises to release more “CRPGs that are going to be as serious as BG3” without Larian

They could and I could see WoTC having no issue with this, but I am not sure about Hasbro.

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast promises to release more “CRPGs that are going to be as serious as BG3” without Larian

I watched one of the Larian streams shortly after launch when the success of BG3 was becoming apparent and Sven was asked about this, his reflex response was that he had no interest in doing a DLC or BG4. Wizards wants to increase monetisation of D&D, this is a given, they have said so. One of...

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast promises to release more “CRPGs that are going to be as serious as BG3” without Larian

A perfectly reasonable attitude, making good quality games seem to be hard given the amount of failures. However, we will not get a good game unless they try and keep trying until they find a team that works. Though I would prefer if the put more money into less ambitious games to create the...
