    (rant) Exhausting brain fog replies

Sory to hear about your mother-in-law, I nursed my mother to her end with dementia, and it can be very tough to live with. The thing is: none of this is new. It has been going on for years, at least most of my lifetime and beyond. In the past it was often the form of provocative headlines in...

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

Fair enough but nothing to do with whether WoTC will make radical changes to D&DBeyond to accommodate similar changes in the structure of a new edition of D&D. The utility of the tools to us is not the same as their utility to WoTC management.

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

They have a working product, one which does all the things that the 4e tools and Gleemax ever promised to do and in a form that is not a dead-end technology. There is no good reason to walk away from it. If they decide to create an edition incompatible with 5e they are better off creating...

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

This, the basic structure of D&D is now locked into code on D&DBeyond. Unless they want to restructure the code to become system agnostic (which may be a good idea).

D&D General To multiclass or not to multiclass

I answered 3 but it is really both 1 and 2. Sometimes I multiclass for character reasons, either background or the evolving story. Sometimes I multiclass for mechanical reasons, I want to see how a particular build plays. Sometimes I multiclass to fill a skills gap, since I often play in small...

How to Delay or Avoid GM Burnout

You have been on here about this before and if you are just venting, that is ok. You have gotten a lot of good advice here in the past and already in this thread. You are more passionate about this than your players, but you are unhappy with the results. You could stop, and play an rpg like...

D&D General An Atlantean Empire who are it's people and what are their capabilities?

That would mean it would only last when deep down.

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

This too shall pass and yes, a new normal eventually emerge. I have no idea as to how long this phase will be, I think we are in some kind of transitional phase, the end of the neo-liberal era and the emergence of something else.

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

No return to the status quo ante is possible.

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

Water transport is quite cheap relative to the quantity transported. Edit: Just a thought: but as far as I know, wood pulp is not transported anywhere. It is made at the paper mills and poured directly onto the forming machines.

D&D General An Atlantean Empire who are it's people and what are their capabilities?

Some cool ideas here. Yeah, chemically anything with its own oxidisers should be able to burn in water.

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

This is a good video with a possible explanation as to the Trump administration strategy here. It would seem to me that if true this is not a thing that will blow over in months.

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

I am not sure that a useful conversation can be had on this topic without considering the politics, how long they last completely depends on what the political objective is. Other than it will make stuff more expensive in the short term and there will be winners and losers. it will disrupt...

D&D General An Atlantean Empire who are it's people and what are their capabilities?

Some interesting ideas here but pick one and work out the implications. For instance: The water around such vents is usually superhot (well over 100 dec C) but not boiling because of the pressure. So how they manipulate and how to the see what they are doing? Are they immune to the heat? Also...

D&D General An Atlantean Empire who are it's people and what are their capabilities?

How do they control heat or fire? All technology beyond stone and bone needs heat or fire. To smelt metals, forge metals or distil elixirs. How do they control heat underwater with any degree of efficiency and without scalding themselves? Or do they use some kind of magical biotech? In that, all...

D&D General Which edition handled alignment best?

I voted for BECMI, for the most part I ignore alignment, but if one is going to use it, the Law/Chaos axis is the best.

What Does Your Dream VTT Do/Look Like?

I am a regular user of Maps (D&DBeyond) and FantasyGrounds and I like both for different reasons. I have used both as player and DM. I love what FantasyGrounds can do but appreciate that it is very complex. I think that my ideal VTT would be able to be both, depending on the options chosen. I...

Has Wizards of the Coast Given Up on Sigil?

3d is much harder than 2d. If there is one usecase where AI would be a boon, it is in 3d VTT's. Take a 2d map and create it in 3d using the 3d assets, that would sell, I think. Any VTT needs to be able to run 2d, 2d is a lot more DM friendly and more versatile than 3d. If I want to show the...

Has Wizards of the Coast Given Up on Sigil?

Squabbling is inevitable once an organisation gets large enough.

Has Wizards of the Coast Given Up on Sigil?

I am aware of the point you are making, and I think you have beaten that horse to death. I am well aware that digital information is ephemeral and I think that most people are. I do not believe that even pdfs are the answer as most people lack the skills and resources to curate a digital...
