D&D General Has Tiny Hut actually affected your game? Or has it otherwise mattered?

I have seen it used but never in a way I would call decisive or that mattered really.

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

Mostly because Gary solved the problem of "I want to play a character like X in fiction" by creating a class to implement X rather than creating a kit for one of the base classes to morph it to an X style. Then he published his house rules.

D&D 5E (2024) If D&D 2024 Had Been Radically Different, Would You Have Stuck With 5E

I understand where you are coming from. I just do not share your response. If we go back to 3.5, I embraced 3.5 initially from Palladium, and it is clearly a better system, however, as a DM by the end of the 3.5 era, I was very sick of it. I would still play it but would not run it. If 4e had...

The current grand duke is Ulder Ravengard, the rest of the Council Edit: sorry it took me a while to figure out the spoiler system.

D&D General Circle Magic Concerns In "Heroes Of Faerun"

I think, one need to apply some common sense here. Fireballs at a mile is similar to smoothbore gunpowder artillery, doable but they would need line of sight and unless they have pre-measured the range or some accurate method of range finding. I think I would ask for an Int check for range...

D&D 5E (2024) If D&D 2024 Had Been Radically Different, Would You Have Stuck With 5E

More or less but 2 out of 4 were happy enough to move to 2024 and the rest followed. If they had not, I would have moved to the new monsters and encounter design anyway. Since I think the versions are pretty compatible, I would allow a mixed table with players using different character versions.

D&D 5E (2024) If D&D 2024 Had Been Radically Different, Would You Have Stuck With 5E

I want to vote "It depends" because none of the options really applied. If 2024 was different then I would have checked it out but probably not bought it, even if I liked it because it would have been very unlikely that my players would have switched. It would have had to be at be at least as...

    D&D General 5e H E L P! Teacher in need of rescue!

Could they work with the level One adventure presented in the DMG?

D&D General Ben Riggs interviews Fred Hicks and Cam Banks, then shares WotC sales data.

To reinforce that, recently Civ VII was a fairly big departure from CiV VI and the reception was lukewarm to say the least.

    D&D General 5e H E L P! Teacher in need of rescue!

I have not run it but I think Borderlands Quests: Goblin Trouble is free and looks suitable.

D&D General WotC is at it again

No, they are not posting it as either forum posts or using the retail customisation tools. They have their own licence agreements.

Yup, in my canon the Kingdom of Many Arrows never fell.

D&D General Forgotten Realms Book preview from NYCC

I find this utterly baffling that someone would drop a 14 year old campaign because of any action of Wizards. Why not simply ignore the books and stuff WotC publishes that one dislikes and continue along your original lines.

D&D General WotC is at it again

This is normal stuff and as far as I can remember there were sites in the early days of forums that actually claimed ownership of material published on the site.

So what's the deal with solo gaming?

Thought I would bump this since I have some related questions, I have been eying Mythic, since it 5e compatible and would like to know more. If I start a character in Media Res will it flesh out the scene? can it expand into a campaign or do I have to provide big bads or other background events...

D&D General The Beautiful Mess of 5e

Though in fairness to Mike Shea, what is overpowered is somewhat table dependent, I think. I have seen wildly different views on what is overpowered argued here. Mike, if memory serves, plays very theatre of the mind and may find things overpowered that may not be as much of an issue in a more...

D&D General The Beautiful Mess of 5e

Same in my Saltmarsh campaign, Twilight cleric, I was not that much of an issue, the fights were still pretty tough.

That was the mistake, they made a mistake as to where the cure lay. It was not until quite some time later that they realized it.

D&D General The Beautiful Mess of 5e

I have a player that loves fireball, always plays wizards in a group that tend to be caster heavy and in my experience over the last 10 years is that bast spells in general are less effective to spells that attack the action economy like hypnotic pattern and similar spells.
