Level Up [+] What features should a "Advanced 5E" have?

Corporal Carrots? I think having a codified extra element would be interesting and add to replayability. I've played quite a few characters now, as I imagine others on this forum have, so I look for more unique combinations. The GM fiat rule means in practice a lot of people wouldn't use it...

Level Up [+] What features should a "Advanced 5E" have?

For me when I wrote on this is purely interest from a gaming perspective of creating combinations I couldn't otherwise. For example, perhaps a Half-Orc with the Gnomish Tinker ability, because they grew up in a tinker town, or a Dwarven Ranger who can hide in the woods and was trained in bow...

Level Up Page Separators on Physical Book

I'm old enough that I remember the cloth maps from the Ultima computer games. How I loved those!

Level Up Page Separators on Physical Book

These days I usually buy digital (sick of moving books around!). It's things like this that make me decide if I would buy a physical product.

Level Up Do you want more monster complexity?

This is effectively what Keith Amman does with "The Monsters Know What They're Doing" which I think is an excellent resource. I'd love an abridged version or something similar with monsters, or monster types (predator, frenzy, brute, skirmisher, etc)

Level Up Do you want more monster complexity?

My preference would be to have a monster tactics section under each monster. With the caveat of course, that the DM may decide that particular monster doesn't have to be have that way. Mindless beings such as constructs and most undead, and many instinctive beasts, slimes, monsters etc might...

Level Up Page Separators on Physical Book

Hi @Morrus , This is an early and potentially odd request. I'd love if when the physical book comes around if there were some page separators between chapters/sections for quick referencing at the table. I really miss the old Encyclopedia Britannia style cut away sections of the pages, but...

"Family-friendly" version of SotDL gets Re-Named

Shadow of the Wicked Wizard? Shadow of the Sordid Sorcerer? Shadow of the Saucy Sorcerer? I think I went off track...

Level Up Changes to race (species?)

I've provided a homebrew hacked pdf on here that does exactly that.

Level Up Changes to race (species?)

I actually really like the idea of separating physical and mental stats. Most arguments for stats ive seen are about the physical ones, i.e, a half orc being stronger than a gnome. And most arguments against racial boost are about the physical, i.e, orcs having a oenalty to Int. Makes a lot of...

Level Up Changes to race (species?)

I think there's a lot of value to this. If for example at character creation you choose: Your ancestry Your culture Your background Your class Then you have a number of interesting modular choices. By adding a fourth element you increase the diversity of characters remarkably. You can have 2...

Level Up Level Up Survey #1: Broad Outlines

Finished the survey. Good questions. I think keeping 100% compatible might be difficult depending on the approach you take to some fundamentals such as race, but I'm sure you can get pretty close. The core of it all for me is "limited choice". I like having 3-5 choices or so. Less and it feels...

"Family-friendly" version of SotDL gets Re-Named

    It's an appealing alliteration altogether

    I was wondering that myself.

5E Long Rest is a Problem

I feel comfort that long after I'm gone, some yet to be born kid will reply to a post of mine on how to "fix HP" or something or other.

5E Subclass System in 5e- Too Much, Too Little, or Just Right (GOLDILOCKS POLL!)

As a big fan of Shadow of the Demon Lord, I voted too limiting, but I'm also quite happy with the 5e implementation of subclasses. Like @vincegetorix and @Aldarc my preference would be a modular system. If i had my dream d&d, it might be a subclass choice at level 3, with features out to...

    5E Synergy of a INT-based warlock

I know this doesn't help with the premise of the thread much, but I feel that Warlocks work most thenatically with Wisdom instead. (Deities vs patrons). With that stat I'd expect you might see odd druid and clerc multiclass combos however.

5E Would you be happy with fixed damage?

I'm in a campaign which is now running high level and the DM has switched to max damage for enemies to ramp up the challenge. It certainly keeps us on our toes!

5E Would you be happy with fixed damage?

Fair response, and I guess what I wanted to see out of the thread. Personally I don't get an innate sense of fun from rolling damage, but I know some do, so it's good to see varying perspectives.

5E Fighters should be the social class

I think driving it for me is that one of the things I always wanted to represent was the kind of different social strata in a game and how different characters may be better at working within those groups. If you have someone born and raised on the street, they're more likely to have...
