(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

There’s literally no way for any enemies to interact with the fog so you will have full cover for the rest of the battle.

(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

I’m trying to remember what we decided. You need to interact with it to disbelieve it. I think it typically takes an action but since you guys expect it, you don’t need to spend an action. I think? I’ll have to go through this thread.

    (IC) Dog Days of Doom!

The fog appears and, for the moment, no-one can see past the illusion.

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

I mean, I tried to explain to you what I was intending to say. Like, I literally said I was using the example as an over exaggeration and, obviously, to you, it did not have the intended point I was trying to convey. I’m not really interested in turning it into a side conversation.

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

I literally have as a player witnessed this. Someone with super high Diplomacy walking all over social encounters because the DM allowed it. As a DM, I have also had players (actually the same player) try to convince me they should be able to do it also. (I don’t play with that group...

    THE LONG WALK Trailer 2

If you look in the background of the clips, you see scenes where only a few of them are left. Feels a bit spoilery to know who goes first and who makes it further in the movie.

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

I just wanted to point out that people use single persuasion rolls to do improbably things that should take time and discussion.

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

Yeah, but that's not really the way to do it. Usually the conversation should adjust the difficulty a bit. Or be limited to a couple of rolls - maybe each successful one changing the person's reaction score for the better. Obviously, people have goals and desires. If the PCs can meet any...

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

I think a lot of people do the one roll for social encounters. I see social encounters needing multiple rolls as people talk back and forth. But many DMs will rule, “make a persuasion check to get the bandits to let you pass” Which might be appropriate but the other end of the spectrum is...

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

True. Like Rogue Trader where your actions affect whole planets.

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

    A) Define the task, method and time required B) Let time pass C) Roll D) Describe success or failure based on the task and method the players defined. Introduce complications.

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

I semi-agree. To me "goal or intent" rolls seem to fit extended tests. I would never say, "Make a roll and if you succeed you blackmail the Baron" (as described in the OP) If I'm not going to make it an entire adventure, I'd have several rolls towards specific goals over time. Player: I...

    (IC) Dog Days of Doom!

Save vs grapple: 1D20+3 = [12]+3 = 15 Edit: you can't move diagonally through the door and you need to move at least 10 feet before the jump if you want to cross the pit safely. Therefore, you can't attack the guy anyways - not that it mattered, he made his save. You are next to him. Do you...

(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

I need to comment on this again, There is a beacon IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS ROOM. They are ignoring it and focused on a magically sealed door at the other end of the room.

(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

You know there's another door, right?

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

? In this example, you say the player would say "But I wouldn't do that..." (regarding the "You spend a few days roughing up suspects..." My point is, I would ask them how they want to get the names of people involved. If they say, "we go around roughing people up', then obviously, I haven't...

    (IC) Dog Days of Doom!

As Anson slides out onto the ledge and starts making his way across the room, the tiefling yells, "Stay there! Don't come any further!" The elf with the bow keeps it trained on Anson but does not shoot, as if waiting for a sign of violence or a command from the teifling. Then many things...

(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

I just responded IC (with two separate posts). I'm just not sure how advancing (especially running and jumping at them) would not look like a threat. Right now there's a 15 foot pit between you which is enforcing a 'safe' distance.
