D&D General The rapier in D&D

Oh, stop. Realism? In the first place, no such thing. Second, DMs have been tweaking the combat experience to create whatever kind of reality or degree of pseudo realism they want. You act like it's hard.

D&D General The rapier in D&D

Or, house rule a change or roleplay it differently. People have been tweaking how combat works against dragons and other monsters in D&D for ages. It isn't a challenge or a problem.

D&D General The Great Railroad Thread

I don't have a problem with the DM using hidden force to nudge the players along a predetermined path, whether it's called railroading or something else. If the players are enjoying themselves, then the results validate the approach.

D&D General The rapier in D&D

Starting from the premise that there's an ancient fire-breathing lizard with wings, none of it makes any kind of logical sense. For me, full-on immune to damage is different than saying it's mostly immune to damage. Mostly immune lines up better with the standard depiction of dragons from...

Streaming services, which do you have or are you getting rid of?

Thank you. This tip might come in very handy depending on the news over the next few days.

D&D General The rapier in D&D

As a rule of thumb, I'm all for simplifying. I've been following this thread from the shadows listening to the ideas. I've never done this myself as a DM, but I've considered some of the same things about huge, armored and gargantuan creatures, how players with tiny weapons like a dagger could...

Streaming services, which do you have or are you getting rid of?

So...are you unable to watch Alien: Earth if you don't have Hulu?? If so, I'm deeply sorry. You don't deserve that. Hopes and prayers.

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Could be true. Folks also just went through pages on this thread taking about print capacity limitations, and there's also cash flow. Can only order what they could afford. It doesn't really matter, though! I recognize that I'm being pedantic.

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Not sure if this was in regard to something I've said, but them being cagey is the furthest thing from my mind. If anything, and that's a solid "if," there might be a couple things going on. Possibly temporary production constraints, cash flow problems/challenges, and least likely would be...

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

I'll sort of take that. I wasn't aware they'd done additional print runs, but doesn't sound like anyone here knows how big the runs have been either. I still think it's a bit curious why they haven't been able to keep up with the presumed demand. You think I'm biased against them, and I think...

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

You did cherrypick because I think you know what I meant based on earlier posts in this thread.

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

You're cherrypicking. I've repeatedly said 6-8 weeks in this thread.

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

I said 6-8 weeks. How many weeks are there between Sep 17 and Nov 12?

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Agreed across the board. It is a little curious why they haven't been able to keep the physical product in stock. I have a tough time believing it's only production constraints. Seems like they could have completed another run in this time, so I suspect there's a little something else to it...

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Thank you! A constructive, respectful comment after an initial difference of opinion was revealed?? Wasn't sure I'd live to see the day.

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Not should. Is. Because it's what I am. I kinda-sorta care, see some kinda interesting things in DH, maybe has some potential for me, some things I don't like too, but I'm not deeply, intensely curious about it yet. Wait and see mostly.

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

Understood. And here's what I said: "Really depends on how solid the design is (vs. a work in progress that requires iterations) and the capabilities and relationship with the manufacturer. For Hasbro, I'd guess 6-8 weeks from finished design and layout before it could be in stores." 6-8...

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

The math isn't adding up. They released each of the three 2024 core rulebooks within six weeks of each other despite acknowledging still working on each at the time. The initial assertion I questioned in the thread was 12-18 months to bring a new product to market, which seems at the far end of...

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Fair enough. I enjoy watching their games for entertainment value more than educational. I like watching CR games, just not using them to set my expectations for a game in real life. I'm more inclined to observe actual play at a local game store for that, where the vibe is...different.
