Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

I appreciate the first half of your comment, but saying that's "...not how you come across in the last 7 pages" is off base. I never said I hated Daggerheart. I said I'm mildly curious about it, which remains. I'm mildly curious in learning more about it, but I'm not curious enough to actively...

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

I guess no one else is going to point out how many weeks passed between the release of each of the core 2024 rulebooks....

OK, I stand corrected. Found a credible source. They were staggered, at least in part, due to print run capacity. https://www.polygon.com/23730209/dnd-dungeons-dragons-books-printer-release-schedule-2024/

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

I would love to find that source. I've found some anecdotal, unofficial claims of that, but nothing confirmed. I read where they publicly framed a stagger as normal and that it was done to let the team focus on and finish each title, pointing out that the 2014 core books were also released one...

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

At the extremes, sure, but it depends on what and how much we're talking about. If we're talking about 20 million copies of an embossed full-color 400-page hardbound during the Spring Festival that's different than 100,000 copies during the low season.

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

My takeaway from this is that I'm the only person on this thread who thinks Hasbro could possibly deliver a new product to market in 6-8 weeks under any circumstances, since that was my original claim. Got it. Never mind the release interval between each of the 2024 core rulebooks, which were...

It doesn't matter how much clout someone has.... I'll remember you said that the next time the topic of Hasbro of comes up.

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

This came up before. Just want to make sure, but was it confirmed by Hasbro that they staggered the release due to production print run capacity, not marketing?

I think you're reading way too much into this.

That really true? Not saying it isn't, but what's your source for that?

Sometimes, but they also benefit from economies of scale and have more leverage over manufacturers due to the amount of business they represent. When Hasbro tells a manufacturer to get a print job done in two weeks, they will. When Joe's RPG Emporium does the same, the manufacturer laughs at...

Well I didn't mean to imply that they always work at their fastest possible pace. I agree that it usually takes much longer than 6-8 weeks. I just don't think it has to.

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

You think so? I think their players are unusually charismatic. Plus, they're rarely argumentative or disruptive (many are also influencers), at least not as often as groups of...more regular people. IMO, the use of a camera coupled with the promise of being streamed changes the entire dynamic...

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set: Heroes on the Borderlands Review

It certainly took longer a couple decades ago than it does now, but it also depends on whether it's just a book, and whether it's leveraging something they've already produced. Like, same style of cards only slightly different (i.e. the art). I've produced a few simple manufactured products...

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Ha! When I'm trying to gauge the actual gameplay for something, doesn't help when the players and GM look like they had to audition for it. No offense to Matt Mercer or other professionals, but they aren't representative of typical.

Any Daggerheart actual play videos (not just audio) out there anyone recommends? Other than Dodoborne and CR please? Not a fan of Dodoborne, and CR doesn't compare to my real life since they're all actors.

Frustration also develops when someone mischaracterizes someone else's position. Here's what I think: ambivalence about something really annoys some people who are extremely passionate about the same thing.

So now we're arguing over what ambivalence means? I'll stick to ambivalence rather than "meh" for me. I'm mildly curious about it, just not enthralled.

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Sort of? Since I can and do play D&D the way I want to already, which everyone I play with is open to (primarily a blend of 2e and 5e, with some house rules thrown in), what's the value add from DH for someone like me? In my case I'm not trying to fix anything that bugs me with D&D. I've already...
