I would love to find that source. I've found some anecdotal, unofficial claims of that, but nothing confirmed. I read where they publicly framed a stagger as normal and that it was done to let the team focus on and finish each title, pointing out that the 2014 core books were also released one...

At the extremes, sure, but it depends on what and how much we're talking about. If we're talking about 20 million copies of an embossed full-color 400-page hardbound during the Spring Festival that's different than 100,000 copies during the low season.

Sometimes, but they also benefit from economies of scale and have more leverage over manufacturers due to the amount of business they represent. When Hasbro tells a manufacturer to get a print job done in two weeks, they will. When Joe's RPG Emporium does the same, the manufacturer laughs at...

Well I didn't mean to imply that they always work at their fastest possible pace. I agree that it usually takes much longer than 6-8 weeks. I just don't think it has to.
