ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

That hasn't been my experience. I'm seeing adoption increasing across tech and manufacturing every day. Now, does that mean that there isn't a huge amount of fluff, hyperbole and marketing out there surrounding AI? No. There is a ton of that nonsense out there too, but this isn't one of those...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

I'm pretty sure I work in a completely different reality than many of the members here, because where I work, and with the companies we work with, AI is everywhere. I hop on Teams meetings 2-3 times per day, and there's a virtual AI assistant on every call, and people are summarizing meeting...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Very interesting topic. It could all go down exactly like that.... Here's why I don't think it will though: AI tools are being widely deployed and widely adopted in white-color workspaces. It is not vaporware. AI is about more than simply replacing people with AI versions. In many corporate...

    Shadowdark Shadowdark General Thread [+]

If anyone's interested, I attempted to homebrew a Shadowdark Ranger. This is still a draft, and I'm open to feedback. I have not run it in a game yet. I tried to make it balanced based on the standard classes in the core rulebook and went with my personal take on fantasy Rangers (no/low magic...

    AD&D 2E Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play AD&D 2E? How Was/Is It?

I played 2E A LOT. A TON, really. That was the edition we played when I was in high school, so those are peak RPG moments in my life. I absolutely loved it. Loved the system. I was always our DM. But yeah, for sure, I homebrewed every adventure we ran and always used a handful of house rules...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

I think the term "AGI" is pretty irrelevant. AI will continue to advance, and whether someone eventually calls a version of it AGI or something else doesn't matter. The problem is that, like many things, there are lots of different definitions of AGI. We have scientists who can't agree on it...

    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

They don't do the hands/teeth thing much anymore, or at least I haven't seen it in a while. It used to be that I couldn't get them to create a 5-finger hand to save my life, but they must have figured it out.

    D&D 5E (2024) How can I do a Charisma-Investigation (or a Strength/Dexterity-Investigation if I can't use Charisma) to find a secret door?

You lost me. If there's a rule that says that the DM can change/add/remove any other rule, what's the argument over? It's in the rules to ignore any other rule. That's actually officially within any DM's purview. So even if other, weaker specific rules exist on how to handle players who miss a...

    D&D 5E (2024) How can I do a Charisma-Investigation (or a Strength/Dexterity-Investigation if I can't use Charisma) to find a secret door?

The disconnect here, IMO: The rules explicitly allow the DM to change/add/remove any rule.

    D&D 5E (2024) How can I do a Charisma-Investigation (or a Strength/Dexterity-Investigation if I can't use Charisma) to find a secret door?

It sounds better if you say it like this: "Yeah, exactly, you might put a character into a position to be killed as a result of playing them as an NPC during a session in which a player wasn't able to attend in person."

    D&D 5E (2024) How can I do a Charisma-Investigation (or a Strength/Dexterity-Investigation if I can't use Charisma) to find a secret door?

He wasn't wrong. You've been wrong. It's OK though. I was wrong at least twice yesterday, and the world kept turning.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

It is absolutely a way for them to save on labor costs. Or rather, to save on labor costs for checkers and redirect the savings to executive pay.

This deserves a special callout. 😂

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Wow. Maybe I'm just gullible, but I'll take that in the spirit that I think it was intended. Thank you! You too! I'm very opinionated, but I genuinely have zero problem disagreeing with people. In my line of work, the people I disagree with the fiercest are the people I cherish the most because...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Machine learning hasn't gone anywhere. It's still all over the place in tech. They just don't use the term or the acronym to describe how their products work anymore. But yeah, it's still machine learning, but every company that used ML clicked CTRL-F to Find/Replace and swap "ML" for "AI" on...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

It already isn't a technological dead end for me. It's already supplanted Google search for most of my needs, so even if it ceased to advance further than where it is right now, it would already prove to be an invaluable tool for me. I'm closer to upgrading my $20/month Plus sub to a $200/month...

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

I don't know.... I don't back things on Kickstarter very often. Last game I backed was Shadow of the Demon Lord, which turned out even better than I'd hoped, but this isn't setting my world on fire. $85 for the first tier that includes first 3 books, and the covers and artwork are different...
