    Aughhh! Setting Headache!

I'm asking this in two places because I really want and need an opinion. Her we go: I'm writing up rules and game world information for a fantasty Indian setting. The bulk of the setting has a technology level of around the early 1900s, yet the history is near our world's India in 1823. The...

How important are humans in a campaign world?

In both of my worlds, humans are very important. One has no demihumans at all, and the other only has a few races.

YAY! I'm a statistic! *jumps around with hands in air*

How do I go about submitting?

I feel really stupid asking this, but I feel as though I've realy got something here. So, as a challenge from some friends, I'm going to start submitting to publishers. The question is, who's good to submit too? How exactly do you write a query letter for a roleplaying game book? What do...

    Modern Party consists of?

Well.....in the Talaka 2000 game I'm preparing, they're going to require a Dedicated/ Field Surgeon (or Acolyte), a Tough/ Shadow Slayer, a Smart/Mage or Charismatic/Telepath, and a Fast. They're also going to have to make sure some of them have survival skills. It all matters what kind of...

What would you characterise as your primary style of playing D&D?

Personally, I'd rather not play the same character for two years. I can come up with all sorts of bizarre personality traits and characterization hooks without much effort (they just come to me), and I find I want to explore certain facets of thought. It's hard to do that with a single character...

What do your heroes do when they're not adventuring?

Hood (the Chaotic Good fighter/mage) usually eats and sleeps. A lot. And chases butterflies. At least until she gets bored, when she sleeps some more. In odd places. I mean, it is called "downtime." She even refers to it as such. Naps and Snacks!

    Planescape Book Suggestions?

You really need the boxed set. Of course, if you're just going to be bangin' around the Cage, that's really all you need. It's got a map o' Sigil and everything! You should also play Torment, too (the best D&D game ever on PC). Other sources on the internet can help out, as well. I'd really...

    The Quintissential D&D Setting

There already is a Charlemagne setting for d20. I forgot what it was called, though. Check out Avalanche press....high cheesecake, but they do know what they're talking about, unfortunately. On a side note, I have an 1820s India-type setting for submission to publishers. I just need to start...

What fantasy setting do you use?

I run a homebrew based on India in the 1820s with fantasy elements thrown in. It's currently being written up as a sourcebook for publishing.

What kind of Earth society/culture would you like written up?

I see a lot of call for India and similar here. What's interesting is that I've been hard at work on an Indian setting for the past few months (for submission to publishers). I started it because I noticed it hadn't been done, but now I fear I may have to find something else.

Dwarven Women: Beards or no Beards?

    Both. Remember, they can shave.

What subjects are taboo in your game?

That's a good one. I didn't think about that. I guess it's just never come up.

What subjects are taboo in your game?

I don't work with certain forms of sexual 'preoccupations.' The game can do without them, as even in the real world, they're buried pretty deep, unless you know where to go (personally, I don't but I know a fella who does). Things I have dealt with are women's rights, slavery, torture (what...

This is why I'm buying d20 Modern!

But duct tape already does that! It doesn't have to be magic! I'm buying d20 modern for the chance to play Mecha Crusade, and perhaps get away from wierdo punk goths in my Vampire group. By the way, my GURPS is BESM.

    WAAAAY OT - The NFL

Warning: Strong Opinion below. American Football. Of course. What other game do large, sweaty men in tight-fitting uniforms grip each other, smack each other on the bum, grab each other in the crotch, and pile atop one another all for the right to hold a blown-up leather sack and throw it...

    DragonCon - Who's going?

*Raises hand* Haiiiii! Mister Author's going to be there! He says he'll be wearing his ponytail, trenchcoat, and western hat! I'm getting a very special Phil Donahue brain for delivering this message!

(OT) Monte Cook's most recent rant.....

Yes. Don't forget the strong, independent woman, her ex-husband (the grizzly, well-greased hero), the black guy, the kid, the politician, the survivalist, and the movie star. Then, they learn to work together through various trials, and a trite little cliché ex-spousal reunion occurs.

(OT) Monte Cook's most recent rant.....

In a different, more post-apocalyptic vein with PCs: What are you talkin' about? You could just repair one....besides, that's why you get other people to help out. And besides, there's lotsa human bones everywhere....you could make a bichin' case. You know, with a skull on top, and little hard...

(OT) Monte Cook's most recent rant.....

Sorry aboot that. I haven't skinned or prepared anything since I was seven (though I'm sure it would eventually come back to me). Now possum, raccoon, and rattlesnake, those I still know how to cook.
