    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Only sort of. One type of elf was like that, and the other major type was specifically not like that and got along great with other races.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

    Seems pretty self-evident to me.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

The feat or no feat, though, is called out in 5e in the PHB. The breath weapon for Dragonborn on the other hand is listed as an absolute defining trait of the race. No other subraces of Dragonborn that don't have a breath weapon are even hinted at. The DM is of course free to make Dragonborn...

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

I suppose if they all had an intelligence of 5 they might do that before going out to rob people.

And if they can't, can hide in light foliage which makes for good banditry.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Not really. Humans are still far and away the majority race of the major cities that aren't explicitly a dwarven city, elven city, etc. Waterdeep for example, despite being very cosmopolitan, is according to the 3e Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, 64% human, with 30% more being elf, half...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Meh. I'll just be sure to roll over onto my wife's side of the bed.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

One of my girlfriends had a cat who if we left for more than a few hours, would open up the kitchen cabinets and throw all the food onto the counter.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

The Mobile feat is my favorite method, since it's very much in control of the Player/PC.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

Right. I said that if the attack on the caster were to happen, it would be better to defend as you move away from the melee attacker and go to the caster. When you broke rank in that combat, did you just open your back to death or did you defend and move away? My contention is that completely...

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

Better a maybe than a guarantee. ;) Give me a break. FANTASY realism then. It would still be suicidal to ignore the guy stabbing you to attack someone 30 feet away. No. It varies.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

Nobody has to be excluded the other way. You'll just end up with folks who like specialized setting C, classes 1, 4, 5, 6, and 10, and races A, X and Y. And other folks will like specialized setting F and different classes and races. They'll still get to play and have fun, but they'll also...

What Does "Simulation" Mean To You? [+]

To me simulation is simply an attempt, however badly, to simulate something in real life. So in D&D when falling does 1d6 per 10 feet fallen, to a maximum of 20d6, it's simulating 1) gravity, 2) damage from the impact at the end of a fall, and 3) terminal velocity.

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

Maybe from 2e? "Dragon Attacks: All dragons have a claw/claw/bite attack form and a breath weapon. The latter can be used once every three rounds."

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

"Dragons con attack by claw/bite or breath weapon. The latter can be used but three times per day, maximum. If a choice is possible roll percentile dice. Any score above 50% indicates the dragon will breathe. The breath weapon causes damage equal to the dragon's hit points (half that amount if a...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

He is misremembering it slightly. The 1e general rule under dragons, before you get to specific colors, says that if the dragon has multiple different attack options, it breathes if it rolls a 51 or higher(not lower).

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

You might as well just stab yourself, then. Taking your attention off of someone trying to stab you is a good way to die. You're better off defending yourself as you move to the caster. Just attacking the caster from 30 feet away makes no sense in any sort of realistic or semi-realistic...

    Player skill vs character skill?

Given RAW unlimited retries, barring some game element preventing it, the rogue will eventually roll a natural 20. That means that absent any pressures, if the lock is equal to or less than 20 + Thieves' Tools/Slight of Hand bonus, the DM should skip the roll and narrate an eventual success...
