    D&D 5E (2024) Ranged Builds Thread

    1. I dont assume elven accuracy is an allowed feat with 2024 options. It certainly isn’t at my table. 2. At actual tables there’s usually not a great chance you can craft or acquire specific magic items. The ranger MC is good but it’s hard to find the dead levels on the fighter to slow the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranged Builds Thread

Thrown weapons are much too short of range imo. Also I think the ranged at will push is as good as wrathful smite, but it’s certainly a trade. Wrathful still requires a hit and a failed save to cause the fear. I’d suggest considering thrown weapons as the backup for when you really want...

I think you still need the free hand to load them?

I view it as an investment into a continuing ecosystem. If it goes away quickly it was a poor investment. I like new content and options ever so often. 5e pace was about right, just a tad slow for me.

I meant in terms of not being a commercial success because of its similarity to 5e. I guess people including myself don’t penny pinch as much as I believe. I bought it despite the similarity and not initially being a fan of most of the changes. Thus the initial reservations.

I initially had reservations. The new system was too similar. But those reservations have mostly passed. Mostly because there seems to be enough adoption despite those things. The similarity probably helps more people stick with it, instead of either liking it or 5e much better and ultimately...

This is likely true. Most of the people doing it aren’t just picking on poor Hasbro though. They’d take any corporate statement with the same grain of salt. At least IMO.

Okay. I can see where you’re coming from but I think that’s just how cynical people talk. Standard spin is spinning the crap out of to us.

D&D 5E (2024) The value of Sap Mastery

Are you suggesting the players know the exact hp of these creatures before killing one in battle. If not then I don’t think this shows that. If so, I don’t think that realistic but let’s discuss anyways. One cannot just take the average damage you do on a hit. There is a range. This is a...

Sure. But it’s still a strong indicator in that direction.

Example. Despite overall revenue being down 10% YOY there was continued growth in our subscriber base by 25%. Conveniently leaving out that the driver for that was deeply discounted rates or free trial runs. Essentially as long as what is said is factually correct and not obviously...

There is not one public traded company that does not spin everything in the best possible light.

D&D 5E (2024) The value of Sap Mastery

I’m really liking the look of it on a berserker barbarian or vengeance Paladin. Something that can add quite bit of damage while sap and the shield shore up defenses. One thing I hate about 5e martials is that outside a little extra hp, the casters usually get better ac (Druid/Cleric with an...

2024 D&D Core Rulebooks Off to "Strongest-Ever" Start for D&D Books

I’m not convinced. The surveys werent about finding out what people wanted but finding out what creative changes made by d&d designers were acceptable to enough people.

    1. Releasing playtest material that you created and then surveying how well it was liked is quite the opposite of designing to survey specifications. It’s simply testing whether your creative design will sell. 2. I find some of the greatest creativity I have flows when dealing with very...

    pop up ads

Surely at this point, after all the complaints of that very thing, it’s got to be expected. No one actually begrudges Morrus for implementing the intrusive ads instead of taking more losses on the site. But it’s also not like Enworld at large doesn’t have the ability to remove them. The choice...

2024 D&D Core Rulebooks Off to "Strongest-Ever" Start for D&D Books

Exactly, corp speak is much more about deciphering what would they have wanted to say if they could have. Generally they want to say whatever paints them in the most favorable light, so if something obvious isn't said that's usually a very bad sign.
