It doesn't need to be described in detail, just mentioned unless a PC asks more about it, or has a high enough passive perception, otherwise it's just grass until the ambush is triggered or noticed. It is up to the PC to ask or ignore not the DM to telegraph. Kinda like a trap or Mimic et al.

I have not used it, but I have read it in digital form, and looked through a friends physical copy over a week or so, it doesn't fit my use case at all in the physical format. I do not use digital stuff other than when out with friends discussing/debating the game, never playing or prepping.

I think the lack of page numbers in the index\reference portions of the book is a large part of the "it feels like the physical book was an after thought" views\complaints.
