5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

Nope. It's how this is flat out read. No interpretation necessary. "Gold dwarves are common in the lands to the south and east. They are formidable warriors, proud of their long traditions, with strong ties to clan. They are gruff and haughty and have a love of fin e craftsmanship and an...

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

Actually, Mountain Dwarves in the Forgotten Realms have endured centuries of warfare and displacement, so they are very warlike. "The ancestral home of the shield dwarves is in northern Faerun, where ancient dwarfholds exist in the North, Damara, lmpiltur, Vaasa, the Vast, and the Western...

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

Mordenkainen's page 71 details some of the cultural differences between the two. Some of those could explain the differences.

5E The "Faster Features" Variant (+)

And they get it. They are FULLY equipped with spells at every level from 1-20. Unless you are suggesting that they get 9th level spells at 10th level, I don't understand what it is that you think Wizards aren't getting by 10th level.

5E The "Faster Features" Variant (+)

No it doesn't. The entire purpose is to move the class features other than spell casting and hit points down to the first 10 levels. Getting higher level spells after 10th is right in line with what he has expressly stated that he wants with spellcasting.

5E The "Faster Features" Variant (+)

They still get their 6th level spell slot and spells at 11th level, though. That "Contingency spell, once per day" at 11th level is still there.

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

No. That's not at all true. To be unwise would require them to have a wisdom penalty. They are not built like Mountain Dwarves. Mountain Dwarves are much stronger. Mountain Dwarf muscles are probably denser or something. They don't have the same culture. They are not Hill Dwarves. They...

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

I think you misunderstood my second sentence there. I wasn't talking about an actual physical form. I was talking about mental aptitude(mental "body"). There is nothing inherently wrong with a wise Goliath, which is why Goliaths can be given a fairly high wisdom if you want to put/buy a high...

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

I'm skeptical still. If he can show the numbers for one, and says he can see the others, then why just say it instead of show it? I don't have much faith in the words of corporations and governments.

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

No. The simplest explanation is that since D&D Beyond's free character builder only gives you one choice, Champion, everyone who wants to play a fighter and not pay for the service is picking......................Champion. WotC and DDB are skewing the stats and then presenting them as...

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

Kind of wiry, with a big nose and glasses. Seriously, though, we were talking about strength, not wisdom. Races with wisdom bonuses have the mental "body" for it. Yep. All very healthy or hardy or sturdy races. Con makes perfect sense. Not the only way, but stats are the easiest way to...

Fair enough. I'll never do normal human, though. There are always useful feats and I like skill proficiencies.

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

Why, though? Those extra +1s aren't that great. You don't really need your 3rd-6th stats. With the variant human you get your two +1s, an extra proficiency and a feat. That feat can be a minor feat to get a second +1 for basically a floating +2 and floating +1, or a major feat. That's a lot...

5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

Size is a factor, but not everything. Mountain Dwarves are also dense and muscular, so they get the bonus despite being smaller than a Goliath. Tabaxi are not muscular or at least not extra muscular, but are more lithe and nimble. And look, they get a dex bonus. Then there's game balance to...

I don't see a problem with 5e giving 2 +2s. That won't unbalance things and would make both the racial bonus and the floating bonus equally meaningful.

General Dragonlance's Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman Are Suing WotC for Breach of Contract

This isn't anything like what Goldmoon did. C.S. Lewis didn't have Aslan and 15 other gods, including evil ones. Had Goldmoon only brought back the one true god, you'd have a point. Cool, but there is no "the religion." She brought back more than a dozen different religions, some of which...
