5E WotC On Tasha, Race, Alignment: A Several-Year Plan

I am Probably about done with this kind of silly sh*t. I bought tashas but that may be the end of it. No problem though...among the books we have, there are thousands of combinations for PCs. when dwarves having dark vision or cats being good at stealth is equated to “real life hurts,” I just...

5E Does the Variant Human need a boost now after Tasha's changes

I was a skeptic about tashas. A hater. Then I read it. I like many of the options. My warlock can do cooler things. Some of this stuff is mechanically equivalent but very flavorful. however, the custom race thing was poorly poorly done. and though I like a fair amount of the flavor...

Tasha's Cauldron of Everything: An In-Depth Review

Haha good ol’ 1e! if I ever quit or break from 5e, I would be for 1e...have not played it now it 20?! Omg! Years since 3e. how depressing I like 5e. But I think what I like best is the core books and select subclasses. I like racial feats fine. just no so much the niches that never...

Tasha's Cauldron of Everything: An In-Depth Review

Understood. I should say adding stuff that was not needed for good conceptual or mechanical reasons whether new for the edition or pulled from another one.

Tasha's Cauldron of Everything: An In-Depth Review

I think I am with you on the useless statement. it’s not the number of options that is the problem. It’s the number of options that seem poorly thought out mechanically or jammed in without a much thought to any archetype in fantasy. I am talking about weird combos or fluff that you never...

Thoughts on Mind Stuff: Who's your Psychic?

I want to be Gary Spivey, complete with spaghetti hair. one power I want is a mind charm that helps to generate cash. unarmored of course with a flowing shirt.

5E Ideas for Initiative house rules

I was just thinking about this. I was also thinking that if it is a side that loses initiative, it could also have some narrative correlate.

5E What is up with the popularity of watching other D&D groups play the game?

Ick. just weird to me. D&d For me has an edge. U usually win but sometimes you lose. And if I lose I take it like a grown person. I feel disappointed, get comforted and move on. treasure fame and renown go to those who persevere not those who cry to the dm.... who might also mourn your...

5E What is up with the popularity of watching other D&D groups play the game?

Well, yeah. As dm I root for my players. As player, my friend roots for me. But sh*t happens in a dangerous world story. the folks lighting Mercer up are not people I would want to play with. They sound like people who want participation trophies.

5E What is up with the popularity of watching other D&D groups play the game?

I think it speaks to different expectations and cultural factors. in my mind, live by the sword die by the sword. Things are different now, that’s all. this is not D&D for me—-personally. Others feel differently. Seems like a Show or story. Which is fine. Just not for me or people I play with.

5E What is up with the popularity of watching other D&D groups play the game?

Just read that. yeah, crying over a character is....different than where ai am coming from. the people watching this gotta be a different breed than me and mine.... yeah. Can’t relate to an apology over a game like this. Wtf?

5E What is up with the popularity of watching other D&D groups play the game?

So I watched relatively little of this stuff. how much die rolling combat is actually going on in these things? Seemed to be mostly narratives. Surely did not see anyone have to be revived...

5E What is up with the popularity of watching other D&D groups play the game?

I was really excited about it at first. It was fun to see a new way to play. I watched a little acquisitions incorporated. before too long the lack of combat had me glazing over. Then with Matt Mercer’s group....I...just can’t. I can see that it might be good for the game but I would rather...

Satanic Panic of the late 80's

Yes. Then like now it takes the form of goofy statements and getting the vapors. some parts of the world sadly take the next step too. All I can do is my part to spread the fun of the hobby...heavy metal and beer... if that is my only legacy I am good with it

Satanic Panic of the late 80's

Earlier I asked about the timing of this because my memory was that the sh*t had mostly blown over by high school for me (late 80s). I first played with older kids by age 7. My Mom was not entirely pleased when she heard the DM narrate a native getting cut in half. But whatever, I was little...

Just out of curiosity... what is the date this went wild? I took flak in the mid 80s and 2nd edition was what year?

I was just thinking about posting a similar thread...I see this is OD&D? Never played it. Started with red boxes and AD&D. is this thread meant for OD&D specifically?

5E Making sense of D&D's Lore, History and Cosmology

your response seemed pedantic so I just drew attention to it. your response to that was to parse words and make a semantic argument. Ok. You win? I don’t think I have anything to drive home at this point.
