D&D 5E The New D&D Book: Candlekeep Mysteries: 17 Mystery Adventures [UPDATED!]

It will be interesting to see how they make it to where magic users don't just make the non-casters more or less pointless. D&D kind of works if you have a bunch of grindy filler encounters to let the BMX Bandit get in his ramp jumps before Angel Summoner saves the day. But in a low combat...

Pfft, that's just a giant owl head!

D&D 5E Which version of the Ranger?

The druid is also better in combat situations and has more utility. If your argument is that 5E is just face rolling easy, that still doesnt mean the ranger isnt weak compared to other classes.

D&D 5E Which version of the Ranger?

This leads to the obvious question - why aren't you just playing a druid and casting level appropriate spells?

D&D 5E Which version of the Ranger?

The ranger is more or less all ribbons though, and bad ones at that. Whatever minor crap they get is easily eclipsed by having a real caster. If you replaced the party's ranger with a druid, you'd be better off at exploration and combat. Getting a second shot with a bow at the cost of full...

    Critical Role Critical Role Miniatures

You can pledge a buck and upgrade in the pledge manager later on when you do have the spare cash. Worse case scenario you're out a dollar to follow along the process.

    Critical Role Critical Role Miniatures

Probably when they could schedule the factory in China to produce. There's only a couple that do quality PVC, so hopefully they're using them and not something like Panda. CMON is doing HATE and Zombicide Invader, Monolith is doing a Pantheon reprint and Gotham Chronicles, etc. Even with the...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Why shouldnt casters suck at skills? If you have time to learn to do everything else AND cast, why are there classes that don't cast? Your entire perspective seems to be only running a non-stop dungeon, so I guess that's where we diverge. The rogue gets traps (whoopty fart) and 1-2 more...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Hey, my initial suggestion was to require casters take multiple rounds to cast spells, so you have me on board lol. Since that isnt going to happen, the alternative is to turn non-casters into supermen worthy to adventure alongside their caster companions. Either works for me honestly.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Everyone gets skills though, and outside of expertise, noncasters aren't any better at using them. That needs to change. Casters should have a much lower proficiency modifier (since they're learning how to cast, which presumably takes time). The barbarian has the same number of skills as the...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Yeah, I deleted my response because I was being snarky and it wasn't needed, then I just got tied up over the weekend. To me, there's never going to be parity with how easy magic is to use in D&D unless they really ramp up what you can do with skills, and then exclude full casters from that...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

They're not near each other in power or specifically utility. They have some minor parity in combat, but casters pull way ahead in exploration and social thanks to various effects. Essentially all non-casters have is skill checks, which casters ALSO get. As such, casters should be significantly...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

I agree they should probably also have to make an Arcana roll to build up energy to continue the spell. :P For the record, I'm suggesting 1-2 full round actions for most spells of level 3+, not 5 rounds. Sure, let them lob a cantrip as they build up their spell. Heals and support would...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

How many rounds does it take the fighter to summon a solar? Or that rogue to mass dominate? Spell effects are way more impacting than "I hit it with my sword for some damage. Maybe" Like I said, you shouldn't even be able to move and cast in the same round. Casters should frankly be kind of...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

How is "only" getting to cast a spell and move a negative? Anything to gut the power of casters in PF is a positive IMO. High level spells should ideally take multiple actions (rounds) to pull off. Anyone masochistic enough to dare play a melee has to eat a ton of feats to move before and after...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Man, I feel for Paizo. They're stuck between their hardcore fans, and their more casual player. The latter was likely in high school or college when they started PF, and now just doesn't have time to keep up with the bloat and minutia now that they have more demands in career, family, etc...

    D&D 5E Mearls' "Firing" tweet

Bolded, because you don't seem to understand the issues with your own words. Again, the gatekeeper using knowledge to keep out those deemed "fake". Which in the past, his historically been women, who are subject to a battery of tests by creepy dudes. Far more than any guy would be. NO ONE is...
