Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

Cool. I hadn't even heard of that other Kickstarter :D

Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

Yep. Its definitely going to hit the 2nd place before it ends.

Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

It will come in second. Its weird though as the current top 3 tabletop RPG KSs all include other elements which made them so successful. 7th Sea was basically a KS for a full line of books and Matt Colville's KS also included miniatures and the first funding a live streaming studio. As such, I...

Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

There is more to 2e than just the rulebook. I can see people picking up the 2e books to fill out their 1e collections regardless. We don’t know enough about the rules changes yet to make a call, but given it’s the same designer who made 1e in the first place, I think we will see a genuine...

Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

Moria, the Shire, Gondor, and Mordor. One of the primary purposes of 2e is to expand on what 1e covered rather than supplant it.

Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

I think its superb. Its purpose built to emulate adventuring in the world of Middle Earth, but is also very approachable by bringing player into the setting at a ground level rather than the usual high level overview of most fantasy RPGs. It has a strong vibe that permeates every adventure...

Check Out The One Ring 2E's Pre-Kickstarter Video!

I don't think that anyone has ever measured this. But Tales From the Loop had 5,600 backers and Twilight 2000 had 8,000 backers and they were both considered smash hits for a RPG KS.

My guess that we may see several products in this KS. A rulebook, starter set, adventure collection and maybe even the Moria box set.

Check Out The One Ring 2E's Pre-Kickstarter Video!

I am actually surprised that they went with a Kickstarter and not just a preorder like Alien. Its clear its going to be commercially successful.

Alvaro Tapia may be even more prevalent than Martin Grip as it sounds like his art was influential in bringing the designer and Free League together. His work in Forbidden Lands is superb.

It makes sense to me. The publisher is European like the designer, has published a licenced IP of one of the designer's top 3 IPs (Alien), and has other RPGs that have a lot in common in their approach to mechanics, setting and respect for IP property.

Official RPG for Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra announced

As posted above, it’s been confirmed by Magpie on Facebook. Magpie posted this on Facebook today: Our team is still developing the game, but it will feature the Powered by the Apocalypse system like Masks: A New Generation, Urban Shadows, and Epyllion. We're excited!

Official RPG for Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra announced

No. All PbtA RPGs should be self contained. As said, PbtA is more a design approach than a core rule system like Savage Worlds, so they differ quite a bit from each other. Sounds like an issue with Henshin, which I haven't heard of. Legacy is great but its a tough first PbtA RPG as it also adds...

Official RPG for Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra announced

FWIW a Dragon Prince RPG has been announced using Cortex. PbtA attempts to demystify the traditional RPG process with a set of simple and clear rules. Most of the issues I have seen are from experienced RPGers who see this as being unnecessary (as they already know the process) and too...

Official RPG for Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra announced

Your impression of a single PbtA RPG may be limiting your view of what it’s capable of. Monster of the Week is part of the first generation of PbtA RPGs and is quite a bit older than Magpie’s RPGs (and even older than DW too). For example, Masks, also by Magpie, is almost exactly as you...

Official RPG for Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra announced

PbtA is less a universal rule system like Savage Worlds and more a family of games or a design toolkit. As such, each PbtA RPG can vary considerably and experience with 1 (in this instance DungeonWorld) isn't necessarily a good comparison. FWIW Magpie Games have already released a PbtA RPG for...

Powered by the Apocalypse. They are RPGs that use mechanics first seen in the RPG Apocalypse World.

Official RPG for Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra announced

Avatar/Korra + Magpie Games + PbtA sounds like a perfect match for me. Magpie's Root RPG was my most anticipated game this year but my excitement for this has overtaken it.
