D&D Movie/TV Hugh Grant To Play Villain in the D&D Movie

Granted, the question is somewhat subjective. But if working (as an actor) nearly every year since 1985, most years with multiple movies and doing everything from Indie to high budget blockbusters and on top of that having an awards page that requires its own wikipedia page, doesn't qualify...

D&D Movie/TV Hugh Grant To Play Villain in the D&D Movie

Considering the last 3 movies (especially the last 2) there's no chance it's worse than the previous ones. Granted, that's about as low a bar as can be set - but it's something.

D&D 5E Too Few Player Options During Combat?

As others have said, I find presenting variable situations in combat (terrain, hazards, obstacles etc.) works best. Without constant change from the DM, players don't really have lots of options even if it looks like it on paper. It's an illusion of choice because players very quickly figure...

D&D General DDB's Adam Bradford went to Demiplane

Thanks, I guess I lump VTT as any medium to play games online (Which means even Zoom qualifies), a not really accurate description.

The guys they got to write it have a solid track record, which while not dispositive, isn't nothing. And as someone else mentioned above, the studio loves the script and is fast tracking it. Which again, isn't everything - but it's not a bad sign.

But he already HAS portrayed a successful villain - in more than 1 movie. Seriously, your position can't both be "I haven't seen him in much of anything" AND "I can't take him seriously as a villain." Now if you saw him in one of his villainous roles and didn't like it - totally different thing.

D&D General DDB's Adam Bradford went to Demiplane

It would actually not be a bad move from a business perspective. D&D beyond with a good VTT - Roll20, FantasyGrounds, Foundry etc. would be very, very unhappy!

D&D General DDB's Adam Bradford went to Demiplane

True. Life is funny that way: I had a good friend who moved from India to take a job at a large (global) telecom company. Years into her employment (and rise) through the company - she was informed that her position was being moved to India - less than 10 miles from where she used to live.

The reason this whole "argument" is kind of silly - Anyone who's a big enough D&D fan to be posting on this board - will see the movie regardless. The studio basically already has our money - so could care less what we think!

Or Hasbro in their push toward VTTs - that would be a bit of a hoot! And it's not even that unlikely, snap up an up and coming property "cheap" as opposed to an established one for way more money!

Right now the actual VTT part seems pretty bare bones. They seem to be pushing the DM and player matching aspect a lot more. Will have to see how this develops.

D&D Movie/TV Hugh Grant To Play Villain in the D&D Movie

As I said earlier, he's been on a villain kick for his later career, Including 5 different villains in Cloud Atlas. He transitioned pretty well from romantic comedy to drama, and just as well to shady/villain roles. Give him a good part and he seems up for it. Now, if he's not to your taste...

D&D Movie/TV Hugh Grant To Play Villain in the D&D Movie

If you watch Cloud Atlas (2012) or most of his post 2016 work, he seems to be in a very morally complex/outright villain phase to his roles. The ones I've seen, he does well. If the script is up to it, I suspect he'll do a great job (and if the role is mediocre, he's a good enough actor to...

D&D 5E Could a Sorcerer with a 1 Wizard dip fulfill everything unique about a wizard?

No, they get advantage in Dex saves with Danger Sense (2nd level). Which, with the amount of HPs they're packing, is still pretty potent.

D&D 5E Could a Sorcerer with a 1 Wizard dip fulfill everything unique about a wizard?

Careful spell only allows you to automatically save, so with a fireball the targets are still taking damage (excepting evasion etc.) Works well for spells like hypnotic pattern though.

D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie should follow the Deadpool model

I strongly suspect that the last thing Hasbro wants is to in any way biggy back of a different brand. They don't want a spoof of some other success, they want to build a successful enough movie/set of movies that someone else feels is popular enough to spoof.

D&D General What do I do with a Player who doesn't care about the actual game?

If the guy is willing to invest, awesome. If not you can't force it and expect that to work. Except instead of having a mature talk you've : 1) hurt the guys feelings and possibly soured the friendship over a game; 2) Shown the other players - when irritated characters start dying This...

D&D General What do I do with a Player who doesn't care about the actual game?

You really don't, Not everyone likes gaming. You can do different things with different friends. More importantly, if this person makes the game worse for the other players, you owe it to them to NOT include this person. No one has the right to have fun at the expense of the other people at...

D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie should follow the Deadpool model

While I get your broader point, I recently reread the first book in this series and it stands up to modern rereading almost (though not quite) as poorly as rereading Anthony's Xanth novels. I would not recommend it to anyone today. In my Opinion, of course. As to the "portal" idea in general...

    D&D 5E [Fun]Really Broken Combos

How is a 3rd level artificer getting 2nd level artificer spells? As a half caster a 3rd level artificer is still casting only 1st level spells. When multiclassing she would eventually get higher level spell slots and be able to upcast those 1st spells. But I don't see how she ever gets access...
