Playtest (A5E) Level Up Playtest Document #10: Adept

So I've missed the fighter document when it was out but one thing about exertion doesn't sit well - spending it. Exertion should be something that builds up rather than being spent. Perhaps rename it into stamina/endurance or make it a pool that builds up as you use abilities (up to a cap) and...

Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

This honestly baffles me. The mentality of 'i backed it while it ran, so only I deserve it, anything else is disrespectful'. It is elitist and the worst form of entitlement. Commercially it makes zero sense to cut off late pledges since they offer others the opportunity to invest in your...

Pathfinder 1E Check Out The Beta For Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

The kingdom management part is what's not to like there. Perhaps I missed it during the tutorial but the game gives you no indication of the consequences of failing the kingdom table quests which can lead to a game over before you can even reach the final section of the game. Now if there was a...

    Helper Classes

Of course it didn't, it wasn't a computer game after all. Certain mechanics don't translate well into PNP games. It did however clearly define class roles into a system that resembles the holy trinity.

    Helper Classes

"tank, DPS, healer which D&D has never attempted" 4th edition would like to have a word with you. True it did add a 4th pillar (controller) and did hybrid roles but it has a very clear distinction between the 4 combat roles and what each could hope to achieve.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Epic Battlemaps, The Cursed King, Epic Goblin Campaign!!!, and more

The funny thing is, the maps are designed using vtt tools. DungeonFog to be exact. The moment I saw them skimming through the pages in the video I knew the assets looked very familiar. If you're already a DF user this becomes a question of whether you want a printed/premapped (and thus fixed)...

[VOTING IS OVER!] Vote For The Most Anticipated RPG of 2021!

Voted Fading Suns last year and will continue to do so this year as well. Now in theory it's already out in digital format to its KS backers but I suppose a wider physical release is still due so that's fair play. Other than that: Werewolf 5e to see what they do with it and Fallout 2d20 because...

    D&D 5E Tasha’s cauldron character thread

Subject to DM approval, don't forget.

D&D 5E Tasha: Now on D&D Beyond, Roll20, Fantasy Grounds

Does Artificer Initiate still allow the use of higher level spell slots to cast the spells gained via the feat? Because if so, Magic Initiate seriously needs an update...

    D&D 5E Tasha’s cauldron character thread

I'm actually doing something like that in my campaign. First short rest is 1 minute, second 10 third 1 hour. Can only benefit from 1 short rest per hour and up to 3 per day. If you want a 4th one you need the catnap spell. Works pretty well.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Kingmaker Definitive Edition Now On Consoles

NVN, NVN2 and IWD2 were running on modified 3.x ed.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Kingmaker Definitive Edition Now On Consoles

Can only speak about the 3rd party mod I used to enable it but it altered the difficulty curve drastically. The end boss of the super dungeon became much easier in turn mode. To anyone considering it - either play with the kingdom management switched to automatic or save each time you have to...

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Previews Include a Scroll of Tarrasque Summoning

Not a wizard spell. They can't scribe it. It's a single use nuke for when you're absolutely screwed. As a reminder - we are dealing with a goddess in RotFM. This sort of heavy grade weaponry might be quite necessary.

    D&D 5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

Sorry my bad, i was thinking about Heroes of Horror. That's where dread as a mechanic showed up although I'm also confusing that for the class ability of the Dread Witch PrC which allowed fear effects to ignore fear immunity.

    D&D 5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

Didn't Libris Mortis also introduce Dread as a concept of fear Paladins weren't immune to and that 20 level Necromancer class that became a lich by lvl 20? That book was whack...

WotC Older D&D Books on DMs Guild Now Have A Disclaimer

The devil thing had rallied significant support on twitter. The sexism thing was more isolated, but just because I ran into only one case of that sentiment, doesn't mean it's not more widespread. At which point do we acknowledge that a problem is a problem?

    D&D 5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

I miss the distinction between low light vision and dark vision.

WotC Older D&D Books on DMs Guild Now Have A Disclaimer

At least one devil was brought up as being a harmful depiction of trans people (the person went so far as to suggest this was done intentionally, though i didn't see any direct evidence backing that particular claim), so devils are on that list and i did bring up the poster claiming sexism is...

    D&D 5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

It does solve a whole lot of issues for races that don't have darkvision. The added benefit of seeing through magical darkness is just cherry on top.
