Resident Alien ( Alan Tudyk, syfy channel)

I'm having trouble with the idea of watching a series where the protagonist straight up murders a random guy in the pilot. Any signs of this being some sort of sleight-of-plot?

D&D 5E Let 'em live or die?

I think prisoners. IRL they could be ransomed off to their families, or maybe to the fey who's eye they've caught? The fey may be very cross to have been dragged into affairs with something like Xvarts. The PC's will have to earn the fey's forgiveness. I figure the fey are a bit like the mob...

    D&D 5E Sanitizing Curse of Strahd (+)

I'd make saving Patrina (as Kasimir's partner, not sister) somehow magically linked to restoring the fertility of the dusk elves. That way Kasimir isn't looking at her becoming a baby factory.

So what are you reading this year 2021?

I've read four of the Murderbot series, slight but enjoyable. I re-read Peter Watt's Blindsight, followed by Echopraxia. They're both intriguing, but the second isn't as meaty as the first. His exploration of ideas is great, though. From one end of the positivity spectrum to the other, I'm close...

What do space empires fight over?

Even for a post-scarcity society, some projects are so big that they may require more resources than they have to hand. Building a dyson sphere around the black hole in the centre of the galaxy - maybe to generate energy?

D&D General why do we have halflings and gnomes?

    They were goblins, Gumps lot.

D&D General why do we have halflings and gnomes?

I did like one of 4e's takes on halflings: itinerant boaters, who trade up and down rivers.

Review Roundup: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything

What recycled content? I mean, if you're referring to UAs: the whole point of UAs is to test the waters prior to publishing an official version. That's not recycled: that's the system working as intended! If you're referring to something else, possibly the Patrons section: I think taking a...

News Digest for the Week of January 15

    It's The Canopic Being.

D&D 5E Revisiting future product predictions (2021 and beyond)

Well, we know that Candlekeep Mysteries is our Q1 book, the short adventure compilation. So that's one down. So, a setting book, and a monster or campaign book.

    Aquatic Campaigns

One thing about purple: it's likely that only primates see a form of purple that fades smoothly from blue to red. Because our blue sense also reacts to red to some level.

Change the name to Dungeons OR Dragons

Well, let's face it. Nowadays it's a rare DM who would put a Dragon in a Dungeon, because they'd face hard questions from their players about how it came to be there.

D&D 5E The New D&D Book: Candlekeep Mysteries: 17 Mystery Adventures [UPDATED!]

I think it might be scarring, since the pale lines go through the forehead and the hair.

    D&D Needs New Settings

I think that's because it hasn't existed for 5 editions and had books written about it for the last 30 years.

D&D 5E Post your pictures of your favorite Libraries here! (Candlekeep inspiration)

You still not going to tell us where these pictures are from?

    D&D General Ch-Ch-Changes

Why not both? Anyway, Dogs in the Vineyard has already been invented.

    D&D General Ch-Ch-Changes

You'll be able to create characters online. Not just their stats and abilities, but their likeness, too. You can then print it off as a 3d bust or a miniature figure - which for an additional fee will be articulated. Possibly automated.

D&D General DM with too High Expectations - Advice?

I do know, that being actors and members of Actors Equity, Critical Role have been paid (almost certainly minimum rates) since their inception.

    Star Wars The mandalorian [Spoilers]

I remember watching the film now called "A New Hope", and just hearing about Lords of the Sith and Womp Rats and Power Converters. SF does this a lot, to show there's a bigger world than we're seeing on the page or screen. Technologies or histories that will be explained if need be, otherwise...
