D&D 5E How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

You can disagree without attacking me, which is what you're doing when you say snarky crap like "I don't mean to alarm you, but D&D is a roleplaying game." Don't do that, and we won't have issues.

D&D 5E How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

Thank you, that's a very succinct way of expressing what I was trying to say.

D&D 5E Can you share your experience with a featless/multiclassless game?

Looks like he mixed the "They're good dogs Brent" meme with the start of your username. I admit I LOLed.

D&D 5E How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

It sounds like you're making the point that the character play/improv part of the RPG is pretty much unconnected to the mechanics (or at least a different layer), which I would largely agree with.

D&D 5E How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

You're passive-aggressively trying to make me out to be a poor role-player. I would really, REALLY appreciate if you didn't do that simply because I enjoy the mechanical aspects of the game as much as the freeform thespian aspects.

D&D 5E How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

Every group should be roleplaying their characters to their hilt, regardless of the mechanical complexity of the game. That's just good gaming practice. Adding more character building tools shouldn't change that.

D&D 5E How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

We've had this discussion before, but if the only part of the game that matters to you is the dramatic/thespian parts of the game, why not play a story game or simply freeform narrate instead? If you're using a system, the system should matter. I stand by my statement; the amount of...

D&D 5E How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

Yes, because "I want more mechanical tools" means that I don't already roleplay the hell out of my character.

D&D 5E How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

I strongly prefer to have the option, but I'll play in a game lacking them provided there's some other interesting hook to the game. "Just roleplay your character more" is not an interesting hook.

D&D 5E Long Rests vs Short Rests

I imagine quite a few people find it satisfying to finish a run of encounters with most of their spell slots left, because it means they leveraged their spells well enough to not need them. Personally, I like characters with a strong at-will offense (or other at-will combat go-to), with a...

D&D General How big is your gaming circle?

About 20 people over 5 groups, with some overlap. About half and half between friends I had before we started playing, and friends I've made by being invited into groups.

Holy crap, I'm stealing that. That's amazing.

    D&D General Would you fequent a gamer's hangout/bar?

My friend's house where we do the bulk of our face-to-face play is pretty much already this, so no real need.

    D&D General It's not a video game.

I think it matters a lot how challenge-oriented your play style. If you're running a module, there's some expectation of challenge play, but plenty of groups run APs as more story/thespian oriented.

D&D 5E Ravenloft Previews of Dementlieu, Lamordia, and Har'Akir

That's quite a few posts just to make an observation. Of course, this post is also just making an observation. :)

And then they'll discover the material is a reboot/retcon, not a direct continuation. This will be familiar state of affairs to anyone who has consumed any serialized media ever in the past 20-30 years or so.

D&D 5E D&D compared to Bespoke Genre TTRPGs

I'll concede some of your points, but I would point out that the "learning curve" aspect of your post (I already know 5e, so why would I take time to learn another system) is only true IF you know 5e and not another system. Now, that's probably a pretty common state of affairs, but that's an...

    D&D 5E Ravenloft Campaign Expectations

Got me. I'll see what parts of the book excite my players and go from there. Tying it in to our Eberron game via the Mourning Rail seems a likely starting point.

    D&D General Assumed Lore/Sacred Cows you've changed +

I don't use the standard Great Wheel much, but when I do, I use this version of it. [Let's Revamp] Planescape - a thematic / oppositional look at the Great Ring Basically, rearranges some planes and their tropes so that the evil planes are "evil twin" versions of the good plane across the L-C...

    D&D General Assumed Lore/Sacred Cows you've changed +

I like this. Order v Chaos is a classic D&Dism that should get more play in the general cosmology. It's much more compelling than Good v Evil.
