    D&D 5E Driftglobe, what am I missing?

Great Necro...now I can share: After reading the OP, I made an encounter with Will-o-Wisps and a Driftglobe. Hilarity ensued when the PCs attacked the Driftglobe thinking it was a wisp. Now its known as strobeglobe, loyal 'follower' of the Bard and his dance music.

    D&D 5E Ghosts of Saltmarsh: A Review

I think I'll add "White Plum Mountain" in the middle (a volcanic island basically) and "Tomb of Horrors" at the end to make it a full 1 to 15 campaign. I am also going to add "strongholds" from MDCM's kickstarter to flesh it out some (Pirate Ship Barbarian camp foe). Classic, Old school...

A Look Inside Ghosts of Saltmarsh: Contents, Saltmarsh Map, & More

I am interested in the factions bit. In the pre-planning stages we have a Triton Paladin of Conquest, a Lizardfolk Drunken Monk, a Water Genasi Druid, a Bronze Dragonborn Tempest Cleric, an Aasimar Divine Soul Sorcerer, and a tbd archer build. Clearly will be opposed to Scarlet Brotherhood, but...

    New Survey

Honestly, I miss dragon magazine. I miss the expectation of finding it in the mailbox. The 30 day news blackout and the excitement of a new announcement. Too much instant gratification now. Bah humbug, get off my lawn!

Warhammer FRPG 4th Ed PDF Pre-Order Goes Live on DriveThruRPG!

At DriveThruRPG you can pre-order the pdf. At Cubicle 7 you can pre-order a hard copy. Those who pre-ordered thru cubicle 7 received an advanced pdf copy (looks good so far, page references missing, good art). Not sure if you pre-order now you would get advanced pdf copy (I think the advanced...

D&D 5E +1 sword or Flame Tongue- or both?

Just riffing, ymmv: +0 Flametongue with 20d6 'pool' of bonus damage. Can use up to 2d6 on a hit, depleting the total dice 'pool'. So up to 10 attacks that do 2d6 will deplete the sword. It recharges 2d6 per long rest. Can use use the pool to do a 5' burst of fire damage (dex save for half, dc...

    The economics of Continual flame

Multi classing Objections: Rules vs. Fluff?

Re: Warlock/Cleric concepts and fluff I have a character concept (ie fluff) where a cleric of good is tempted by darkness in a morally ambiguous world. Yes, gods of good and evil explicitly 'exist', but they are far removed from the mortal realm, even from 'epic' mortals. In this world, the...

Pathfinder 2 Character Sheet #3: Valeros, Human Fighter

I can certainly respect that opinion. But if I may (well I suppose I am going to anyway), I'd like to offer my explanation to players who feel the same: There is the narrative (I attack the orc) Then the resolution (To hit roll, reactions, etc.) which is not IN the narrative Then the narrative...

THIS Is The Pathfinder Playtest Rulebook!

Talisker is fine for a whiskey, but doesn't hold up to a weighty tome playtest. He should have went with Laphroig, or Lagavulin. Peat smoke and sea air will hold their weight for Pathfinder 2.0

"Immortal Fortress" - WotC Drops Clues About The Upcoming Storyline?

Probably not it at all, but reading that reminded me of the Dragon #100 adventure "The City Beyond the Gate". Good times. (an aside, I only remember this issue because its also the go-to source for dragonchess)

The "Superstitious Mumbo Jumbo" Of Dice Rolling

The thing about probability is that it's true for sufficiently large data sets, over time. On a short time scale, with a small data set, you can have a phenomenal run or a poor run and still the probabilities remain true in the larger (data set, time) context. In other words, mean reversion...

A tiny offset to the Frenzy Barbarian's neg?

Shrug it off: You may spend one use of Rage to lower exhaustion by one step was a version a player proposed. Never tested in gameplay as he went with fighter.

RPG Evolution: Do We Still Need "Race" in D&D?

I once had a discussion with a gamer friend of mine about race (in our world). We had just finished playing D&D but (IIRC) the rodney king riots were fresh on our minds. Mind you, I am white, he is not. I said something to the effect of, "Black people, unlike humans..." Imagine my...
