1001 Adventuring Companies

To me, it's a lot of fun to be in an adventuring party with a name. It makes you feel like you're part of a legend that people will come to talk of, that you can achieve fame and glory. It means you're a professional. Maybe you've got a base of operations, maybe you've got a charter, maybe you've got the sponsorship of the king. 4E includes a line for "Adventuring Company" right on the top of the sheet.

What do/would you name your adventuring company?

In my 4e campaign we are part of a mercenary group called the 13th Legion, basically taken from the HBO Rome TV series. In our story we are the remnants of a once noble military legion that was part of an empire that collapsed about 100 years prior to the start of our campaign. We are a mercenary group, but with a fairly regimented "guidebook" on our tactics and common practices. While we do have some unscrupulous characters, for the most part members of our company try to be somewhat honorable.

Our last group called themselves The Royal Order of the Drunken Ferret.

They were forced to change their name to The Order of the Drunken Ferret when some individuals that actually were nobles expressed their displeasure at the adventurers calling themselves 'Royal' anything. (Although one did later concede that they could call themselves Royal Pains in the Arse, if they wanted, since that seemed to be what they were best at...)
