Merrick waits for the shadows to pass and then peeks up from the water to see where people are.

He prepares to sneak back to his comrades to see if they are alive.

i can see from the map where people are but Merrick will wait until end of the round for people move away. There’s way more mercenaries than I’d originally thought.

I guess he will try to sneak back towards Torhak and Shamal.

If it’s relevant, here is a stealth check, using my special ability to apply strength to it since my rage lasts for 10 minutes.

On another note: he’s still disguised and even though he’s been found out, maybe the darkness will help.

Stealth: 1D20+5 = [15]+5 = 20

Team Caves

Urgan slid down the steep slope heading for the Kobold Lair. His orcish vision adjusted quickly to the darkness at the bottom of the slope, where a spot on the dirt floor appeared just a little too perfect. It was likely a pit trap, and Urgan jumped over it. But those clever kobolds had placed a trip-wire on the other side, where the tunnel sloped steeply back upwards. He stumbled over it, cursing, but he was lucky - a spring-loaded hidden morning-star, likely looted from a dead cultist, swung down at him from above, and he deftly ducked it.

The slope was so steep that it was practically a climb, and he put his hands on the dirt and rock, both searching for further traps and to steady himself as he climb-crawled upward. Little bells in the distance told him that the kobolds would be alerted above. He hoped that they would remember him, and would remain grateful for his help in freeing their indentured laborers from the dig-site, or that their earlier alliance was still standing.

Merrick slowly pulled himself from the water. The mercenaries had passed him by, and though they weren't far away, they were standing among the petrified trees, aiming crossbows down the eastern tunnel. But none had a clear shot, and they were arguing about going down. A cultist at their lead didn't join their argument; he began the decent with grim determination.

Merrick turned to the west, heading back downward toward the Trophy Room. That room was lit by softly glowing orbs, and he stuck to the shadows by its connecting archway. He spotted movement, and ducked out of sight. Here was Bardaby, in no hurry, holding a rather large loaded crossbow, but making no rush to join the others.

OOC: I think Merrick's Jump spell is probably done. Rounds are quick with two players! Note: To be clear about the Map, the space where Urgan is is not visible from where the Fanatic is, and vice-versa. The line about halfway between them is 30ft lower than either side. Down, then up, with a ceiling that slopes the same as the floor. The kobolds at the guard huts will spot Urgan this coming round.

Urgan presses forward, moving to avoid any incoming fire from behind or, for that matter, form the sentry posts ahead.

He stands as he approaches, his hands in the air. The illusory disguise that he wears sluffs off him and pools into the ground, revealing the orc once again.

"I have news for Urborne, Urborne the Magnificent." he says in Common and Orcish, as he hopes they remember the fireworks and cymbals that he contributed to the celebration -- what, was it only the night before? It felt like months since he had last been here.

OOC: Oooo -- The whole space is much smaller than I imagined -- I had thought there was a bigger distance between these locales.

Dismissing the disguise takes no action (PHB 237 -- who knew?).

Move 30'
Action: Dodge if needed.
Reaction: Shield if needed.
Bonus: Study (Inspection) as before.

Team Fusion - Aywin

The rober's bite hurt, althout a significant part of the damage was absorbed by his algelic vigor At least I'm keeping it busy! Aywin mused to himself. Perhaps Svetlana's sarcasm was getting to him after all.

Seeing that spending energy to free himself was counterproductive, he summons celestial energy to bolster himself, while instructing Svetlana to distract the creature.

OOC: @FitzTheRuke, next time the roper takes a bite, Aywin will use the shield spell if he can. He would have done it but no need to rework the last round. Rection spells are difficult in pbp.

action: cast false life (fiendish vigor invocation) and gets 12thp
Move: none - he is grappled

Svetlana will attempt distracting the roper (improvised action, you call what this does)

HP should be back to 23/33(38) +12 thp

Copper AC:15 HP:32/31 (Thp) HD:4/4 PP:14 CloudJ:1/2

Copper, seeing his teammate in distress, but not fully willing to get pulled into a bottomless pit, pulls out his trusty bow and aims at the monstrous creature. "Don't let it get away!"
OOC: One more solid blow should get it!
Taking out the bow and using aim bonus action so no movement this round.
sneak attack with advantage from Aim: 2D20.HIGH(1)+6 = [19, 7]+6 = 25
3D6+4 = [2, 6, 1]+4 = 13

Shade-9's optics flared as the Roper disappeared to its momentary banishment, marking the position of each of Team Fusions companions, before locking in on Loklafd who had caught the ledge but was at risk of falling further to his doom.

[[SUBJECT: LOKLAFD] Critical Hazard
Status: Falling, situationally impeded by unstable handhold, high risk of failure
Consequence: Fall into gorge - Fatality Risk 88%
]

Shade-9 broke from his firing position, sprinting forward across the unstable ground. Grabbing one of the clinging vines and testing it for support, the Warforged dropped to one knee close to the gorge and extended his arm out towards the man hanging precariously from the edge.

He registered the Roper reappearing at the top of the falls and its attack on Aywin, but dealing with that would fall on the remaining team, his focus was on the northman.

"Loklafd grasp my forearm with your left hand" his voice remained calm despite the chaos around them, as he braced his feet against the ground, confident that his grip and the assistance of the clinging vines would be enough.

OOC:
Dex test 1D20+3 = [19]+3 = 22
Str test 1D20+0 = [11]+0 = 11

Dex and Str test if relevant (lets hope the Str test is enough for Shade-9s heroics!)

Bjorn sighed in relief upon seeing Shade-9 springing to aid Loklafd. He turned is attention back to the roper, now at the top of the falls. He focused on the shaft of moonlight, moving it to shine upon the foul beast while avoiding Aywin.

OOC: Bjorn moves the moonbeam to the roper, being careful no to catch Aywin in it.
Moonbeam damage (DC 14 Con, radiant): 2D10 = [9, 2] = 11

I think that's enough to take it out.

Terrin AC:15* HP:30/31(36) HD:1/4 PP:14 SSdc14 1/4 2/3 CD:2/2 Slp:0/1
Terrin carefully makes his way north along the edge of the chasm, watching as silvery radiance begins to sear into the creature's body. He retrieves a javelin which he prepares to throw should the creature survive.

OOC: Terrin moves to AO16 and takes the Ready action, waiting to attack the roper if it shows any signs of life after receiving the full effect of the moonbeam spell.

Reaction attack if triggered: Javelin : 1D20+3 = [20]+3 = 23

Critical piercing damage : 2D6+1 = [1, 5]+1 = 7

Team Fusion

The soft light of Bjorn's spell moved across the gorge, and when it passed over the tentacled creature, its stony flesh began to dry and crack. Finally, it went limp, and as it did, its tentacles flopped to the ground. Aywin struck the ledge above the waterfall, but the great weight of the tentacle that had grabbed him dragged him toward the water. The Roper's main body fell forward, the pointed top of its crown fell like a spear over the waterfall and began to plunge into the long darkness.

Limp tentacles flailed all about the chamber, swiftly plying their way to follow the body over the falls.

Shade-9 had just rescued Loklafd, pulling the Northman up, as a tentacle struck the ledge right near them. The rocks cracked and crumbled and began to slide downward, threatening to take them both. Those on the far side were, for the moment, safe, but even they had to duck as tentacles flailed overhead before sliding into the gorge.

OOC: Fight's over, but action is not. I'm going to need a dc14 DEX Save from Shade-9 (I'll roll for Loklafd, too, poor fellow), and one from Aywin as well. If either of you fail, you can make an Athletics check (dc14) to grab onto something, about 10ft down. In Aywin's case, that will take him into the water, and he'll be quickly rushing toward the steepest part of the falls, but we'll worry about that then.
