Hey, gang!
In trying to get myself back into the swing of the ol' PBP thing, I'm going to try once more with a New Game. As all of you know, new games have all the momentum, and old games pretty much always lose steam. It's the nature of the beast. One of the things that I'm going to try (again) is to run something SHORT. Hopefully, that will help to keep the momentum up to the End, and then we can try something else.
As most of you are aware, I own a Comic & Game store, and WotC has started to provide Intro Adventures (again - they used to do, but stopped for several years). These are tied to their "Seasons" and the latest one is for the Arcana Unleashed "Season of Magic". Now, none of this means that you need to play a spellcaster, NOR do you need to have access to the newest books, no, it's just that this Adventure (without spoiling too much) takes place in Rashemen (famously where Minsc, from the Baldur's Gate games, hails from). Now, myself, I'm not particularly familiar with the place, but I AM pretty familiar with the Bad Guys in the Adventure, which should surprise no-one: The Red Wizards of Thay.
It's not a long adventure - it's supposed to be for a single Game Day event, and IDK, maybe it won't be particularly good. It WILL be very, very much a railroad, because it's really meant to be "sit down at the table and run these couple of encounters". So if that's not YOUR cup of tea, that's fine. But if you want to join me here, that's great! Hopefully it'll be quick and fun enough, and get us all into the swing of things, and maybe we'll do something else next time. I think it's probably a fine fit for PBP, which comes with it's own issues, as I hope you're aware.
I'm going to invite my usual suspects here, but if you're not among them, but you want to try it, feel free to throw your hat into the ring anyhow. Who knows? Oh, and if I get too many folks, don't worry - I'll just run multiple groups (in their own threads, promise!)

Oh! I should probably mention: You should be thinking about Level 3 characters made from 5.5e D&D sources. Standard Array or Point-Buy, Fixed HP. You can have a Healing Potion on top of starting gear.
I have no issue with you making a custom Background, but let me know what it looks like here. Alternately, pick a Background, and just swap out anything you don't like for any like thing that makes sense. Keep it story-driven if you can, and again, just tell me what you've done so I have an idea.
Who's with me?
