Aril is a fish out of water. He's relatively new to this world and the people in it.

1) He's heard of the Harpers, but assumes they are like one of the factions in Under-Sigil. He knows almost nothing about them.

2) Wychlaren and the Iron Lord.
All new to Aril. What little he knows, he picked up on the way there.

3) Why is Aril in Rashemen:
He's no longer an apprentice, and is finally able to travel to different shipyards and work with different masters (aka journeyman). There were some "interesting" events "back home" that interrupted this process, and Aril is realistic enough to realize that other interruptions may occur.
He's an elf, so he has the luxury of time to reach his goals.

Translation: Player is new to both FR and 5e. Wish me luck.

I'm not sure which hook works best for Morgrim. He is primarily a caravan guard and mercenary. He came to Rashemen with one of the foreign traders and decided to stay and make some coin. So if that is not enough of a hook someone from the Wychlaren, or the Iron Lord will hire me for the adventure.

That basically works with the "reasons are my own" option, but can morph into working more "officially".

When we first started, I thought that I'd be able to respond to each and every one of your excellent posts with a personalized insight and more nuanced interaction (say, chatting with NPCs or the like) but, frankly, I'm not going to be able to find the time. There are twelve of you, and these are not the only games that I run!

So, in order to not have the game slow down while I find time for that, I'm going to make my posts for the time being relatively plot-centric, and leave much of the interaction between the PCs.

But rest assured, I've read and enjoyed (and noted for future reference) each of your wonderful posts. I'm getting to know the characters, and I hope that I'll be able to do something that speaks to each more individually over time.

The Adventure itself is very bare-boned and encounter-centric, so while I hope to expand on it a bit for each character, I'm going to have to pick my battles, time-wise. I hope that all makes sense.

You ever just come across an accidental character hook that just fits perfectly for what you wanted, even if you didn't quite remember it existed when you made the character?

Yeah, I'm rolling with it.

@FitzTheRuke now that we're at the Well/Statue, could we maybe spot other PC groups in the crowd? Just as flavour of course, but Orbril is certainly likely to notice a giant Mushroom :)
I think that I'll keep things in distinct "continuity" separate from each other. Not to say that it's impossible that some version of Vast is there, but it's often already difficult enough to juggle without trying to keep track of cross-over.

I've been working on it in all my spare time, but it's taking me a little longer to get the maps and round-rollers done for three groups (still working on Icons, etc). Some day I will learn to use DDB Maps or another VTT, but I'm not sure that they'd speed me up at any rate - certainly not while I'm still learning to use them, and maybe not even then. At any rate, it's getting done and will be posted ASAP. Just letting you know that I'm not shirking... I'm almost there.

For those of you who haven't played with me before, for PBP, instead of the usual 5e Initiative system, I use what I tend to think of as an "aggro-mechanic". I generally post a map and "roller" (some information about the combat) and then I let the players go first. If I happen to be available, I might have a BG (Bad Guy) get a chance to react in-between players beating on them. Either way, when everyone has gone, including me with bad guys and NPCs, I will post another "roller".

So, generally, don't take your turn until you see "Begin Round 1", and don't go again until you see "Begin Round 2", and so on.

I will try to make more posts that address you all individually as time goes on. Bear with me. Turns out three games is a LOT.
