D&D 5E 5E Survivor - 5th Edition Survives! [+]

I really can't believe Essentials has lasted this long. It is The Rise of Skywalker of D&D. It tried to change 4e enough to placate the people who hated it, and it ended up pleasing literally nobody, because it was fundamentally an ill-conceived dumpster fire of radioactive cynicism.
Heh. It pleased powergamers. Almost every Essentials variant was more powerful than the old AEDU version from early 4E, and even better, you could combine the two to earthshattering effect.

Originally I had clicked "Like" on this post because I agree with the assessment. Then I fermented that this is a Positive Only thread, and this post is out of alignment with that notion.

So let's talk about the good things that each edition has to offer, and leave the bad stuff for a different thread.

And there's our Top Ten, folks!

The top three options are currently AD&D 1E (60 points), BECMI (58 points), and Rules Cyclopedia (56 points).
The bottom three are OD&D (6 points), 3.5E (25 points), and Basic (44 points).

But with a standard deviation of friggin' sixteen points, it really is anybody's game. Will OD&D rally? Will AD&D 1E be dethroned? Will they destroy each other like a matter-antimatter reaction? It's anybody's guess at this point.
