A plea for the Chold Hold and Earth's Embrace feats...

Would anybody be so kind as to post these two feats for me out of their copy of Oriental Adventures? I'm asking really nicely because I need the verbatim description (not an abridged version).

Pleeeeeeeeeaze.

If you need the verbatim descriptions, get the book. I highly recommend it and its companion, Rokugan.

Asking people nicely to break copyright laws doesn't make it any less wrong.

These books are both really good. Rokugan is possible the best book written for d20 so far. There is no reason not to buy these books.

There is every reason not to buy that book, except for the a few skant "general" feats. You obviously enjoy the Oriental Adventures book, but it contains very little universal source material and a surprisingly disappointing martial arts system (no, a bunch of feats do not make a universal martial arts system). Ultimately, Oriental Adventures is not a source book. It is campaign specific material. I didn't buy the Forgotten Realms book for the exact same reason.

If nobody feels comfortable relating those two feats to me over this message board, I will just have to copy them out of a book at my local store.

I don't use the setting presented in these books and I still find them useful. They have great ideas and different ways of doing things. There are many things of use in these books. The martial art system is simple and generic. If I want complex, well there's a great Martial Arts system that someone has on the web.

Shell out the money, it's worth it. It isn't even an expensive book. You can find it used for about 15$, if you really look hard.

Technically, he'd only have to buy OA. It has both the Choke Hold and Earth's Embrace feats. I was considering a Rogue garroting specialist, but I concluded that the best way to do that would be by grabbing all the martial arts feats from OA... :)

And not be a Rogue, obviously.

Except possibly to avoid spending $55 US. Don't you agree that that is a bit much for only two feats.

You might actually get a bit more then the 2 feats or else the guy at the shop is really ripping you off :)

Make sure that you get more then a sheet of paper for your money, or all you will be getting is two feats. :)

The books, or book cause all you need is OA, is well worth the little bit of cash it takes to get it.

While posting the full text of those feats would technically be in violation of copyright law, I can present you those feats, reworded. I can assure you that my rewordings are fully equivalent with the originals.

Choke Hold [general]
Prerequisites: Improved Unarmed Strike, Improved Grapple, Stunning Fist
Benefit: If you manage to pin your opponent in a grapple, and maintain that pin for one full round, your opponent falls unconcious for 1d3 rounds. He can make a Fort saving throw (DC 10 + 1/2 your class level + your Wisdom modifier) to negate this effect.

(The feat seems to indicate that you can force your opponent to make a save at the end of each full round you maintain a pin)

Earth's Embrace [general]
Prerequisites: Improved Unarmed Strike, Improved Grapple, Strength 15+
Benefit: If you manage to pin your opponent in a grapple, you deal double normal damage each round you maintain the pin (just as if you dealt a critical hit). In order to do double damage, you must remain immobile (but not helpless), giving opponents a +4 bonus to hit you. Your pinned opponent is still held immobile as well.
