A Waffle House movie?

Aeson

I HAVE THE POWER!
Apparently so. It's a sci-fi movie called The Waffle House Index. This is based on a real thing. Waffle Houses are legendary for staying open during anything. Basically, if the building is still standing, it's open. The movie stars Inde Navarrette as a waitress working a nightshift from hell. So, she's working a typical Saturday night shift for Waffle House.

When I used to go to job fairs seeking employees, I would often run into the Waffle House team as they were looking for people as well. i.e. They were looking for college graduates interested in managment, supply chain, and other professional occupations. I used to always go talk to them and I'd end up with a coupon for a free waffle. It was great.

They're headquartered here in Georgia. Depending on what position and how high you go you might end up here.

I wanted to share this from their Wikipedia page on disaster relief.

According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Waffle House is one of the top four corporations, along with Walmart, The Home Depot, and Lowe's, for disaster response.[43][44] Waffle House has an extensive disaster management plan with on-site and portable generators, and positions food and ice ahead of severe weather events such as a hurricane. This helps mitigate the effects of a storm on the power grid and the supply chains.[45] The company prepares "jump teams" of recovery staff and supplies, brought in from outside disaster-affected areas, so that local staff can focus on helping their own homes and families. The ability of a Waffle House to remain open after a severe storm, possibly with a limited menu, is used by FEMA as a measure of disaster recovery known as the Waffle House Index.

If you want to have a disaster movie, a Waffle House is a great setting for it.

Forget the sci fi and disaster movie aspects of it, think about how many movies overall feature a cafe, diner, or people going out to eat for breakfast (or really really late post-drinking dining)? I can imagine a movie just covering the staff for a waffle house where all the other movies are having their breakfast scene.

You could turn the movie Legion into a Waffle House branded movie with relatively minimal work. And probably a tenth of the budget of Battleship.
