I never cared for them, but the lead singer had one of the funniest "road stories" I've ever heard.
The band was flying (first class) to America and the air hostess recognized him...sort of.
"You're famous, but I can't quite place you," she said, "Where should I know you from?"
Smiling, he replied, "Air Supply."
"What?"
A little louder, he repeated, "Air Supply!"
...at which point she manually deployed the plane's oxygen system, stepping the mask over his face with great haste.
What made it extra fun and memorable for me is that I heard that story as part of a live radio interview he was doing, while my Dad and I were cleaning his office's fish tank. The aquarium pump was having difficulty restarting, so Dad was trying to clear an air bubble by suck-starting it. The story punchline coincided with my Dad giving I an extra hard pull, and he inhaled to laugh at the same time...and was rewarded with a mouthful of tank water!
