Well, there was plenty of room for executive interference to screw things up and Ellison's ego to get in the way of people being able to work with him at the same time.

I do think a Starlost (or something similar) could work very well now. The trouble with TV and movie execs is they only look at the things that were successful, not the things that were potentially great.
