OK, if you went back to sq 1, and made each world of D&D with the edtion in mind how diffrent would it be.
In both the realms and greyhawk wizards (and clerics in realms) rule the narrative. The reason is easy enought to see. Mord, and tenser and tasha are wizards becuse when you build a power house in 1e that is what you build. You at the end are worldd warping fantasical power...
But what if the orginal grey hawk players sat down to lay 4e (or soon 5e) would the warlord/battlecaptian/legendary king play just as important of a role as the wizard/battlemage/archmage? and if so how diffrent would it be.
Look at the realms, we have the 7 sisters, if the ranger and the wizard can both end up being just as badass, how diffrent is that history?
Even the stories of D&D had linar fighter and quadratic wizards, how diffrent would those setting look in a more modern game?
