The audition episodes in the early part of the season are usually the funniest part of the show.

I used to feel sorry for the ones that showed up with the misconception that they had angelic voices when in reality it was more breaking the eardrums.

now I just feel a slight 'you deserve it.' It has been on enough seasons that they should know what it will be like. And should also know that honesty does not come from a mother who always wanted to sing but couldn't. That path leads to child and mother crying on TV, and I guess the ratings go up since they like to highlight some of those each time.
