AI Disclaimer:
AI was used in two ways to help produce this book:
Images. Many (but not all) images in this book were generated with Shutterstock AI. Why? Because Shutterstock compensates contributing artists. It is also far faster than humans and much more cost effective. This book also contains art from the public domain and one commissioned piece.
Editing. After paying human editors to go through this book, ChatGPT was used to re-edit it. It found hundreds of errors the humans missed.

This book took three years to produce. Without AI assistance, this book would have taken several more years, cost tens of thousands of dollars more, and the end result would not be as good.

Lastly, I'd also like to say that this is a book I've wanted at my own gaming tables for decades. How does magic really work? What sort of spells did wizards and witches really use? Where does the power come from? How do Fate and Prophecy work? What do Daemons do? What were the laws and social norms about magic? This book answers all those questions and much more!

As a PF1 holdout, I really appreciated that you guys put out several Amazons vs Valkyries products for Pathfinder 1st Edition, and made sure to pick all of them up. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any new releases in a while. Have you shuttered that particular line?

Thanks for the question!

And thanks for your support of the AvV PF1 content.

We have not shuttered that line. I continue to be surprised at how much interest there still is in the AvV PF1 content.

The Ancient Magic project took up so much time and effort, that we really didn’t produce much else over the past two years or so. There have been a few small releases in that time. Most were related to the Ancient Magic project.

Now that Ancient Magic is done, I’m taking a short break from AvV to work on some other things (like superheroes and short stories). But I do plan to get back to AvV soon, though. After three years in the trenches, I needed a little respite!

Personally, I’ve not played or written for PF1 in several years now. My focus is much more on 5e these days. But Beth is still committed to PF1 and I’m sure she would be happy to convert 5e content or come up with new material. She sent me a short manuscript for some new ideas recently, but it will be a little while before its ready. And I will definitely talk to her about converting content from Ancient Magic.

So the TL;DR is: Yes we will still produce PF1 content for AvV, but I’m not sure what will be next or when that will happen just yet.

Bring the real magic of the ancient world to your Pathfinder game!

20 Spells of Ancient Magic presents twenty new spells inspired by actual spells, rituals, charms, curses, and magical traditions preserved in ancient sources. Drawn from the Greek Magical Papyri, curse tablets, inscriptions, monuments, literature, and folklore, these spells have been adapted and balanced for Pathfinder First Edition.

Inside you will find spells such as:

• Animate Shadow, which brings your own shadow to life as an obedient servant
• Animal Powers, which grants abilities drawn from beasts and birds
• Arrow of Apollo, which strikes a foe with an invisible arrow of divine force
• Aura of Misfortune, which surrounds you with an aura of ill fate
• Chant of Revenge, a ritual that calls on the spirits of the wolf and horse
• Crushing Fissure, which tears open the earth beneath your enemies
• Snake Whip, which conjures a living serpent into your hand as a weapon
• Stone of Discord, which turns creatures against one another
• Table Gimmicks, a collection of strange magical tricks preserved from antiquity
• Plus Touch of Demise, Twisted Fate, Word of Frost, Word of Rending, and more!

These spells preserve distinctive features of their ancient sources, including unusual ingredients, ritual actions, invocations, astrological timing, and the intended effects of the original magic.

Use them as lost formulas on damaged papyri, secret rites taught by cults, inscriptions hidden in forgotten temples, or spells passed down through generations of witches, priests, and sorcerers.

20 Spells of Ancient Magic brings a new level of historical flavor, mystery, and authenticity to your Pathfinder First Edition game.

Background-feats-72-11.jpg
Where did your character learn magic?

Background Feats introduces 29 new feats that connect your character’s education, training, and magical traditions directly to their abilities. Study at a Greek academy, attend a Babylonian university, train at an Egyptian House of Life, join a mystery cult, learn from witches, or survive one of the world’s most dangerous schools of magic.

Each background feat represents the lasting influence of your character’s education. Unlike ordinary feats, a character can select only one background feat during their career, making that choice an important part of their history and identity.

Inside you will find 29 new feats, including:

• Alchemical Dabbler, which lets you cast a basic alchemist spell as a spell-like ability
• Bardic Influence, which replaces your class skill list with the bard’s
• Book Learner, which lets Intelligence substitute for other ability scores with selected skills
• Coven Magic, which grants a witch access to an additional patron spell
• Cross-Training, which lets you cast a spell from another class’s spell list
• Fate Influencer, which gives you a pool of points to improve saving throws and Armor Class
• Intimidating Caster, which lets your magic terrify its victims
• Military Scholar, which makes you more effective when flanking
• Potent Necromancer, which makes your necromancy spells more lethal
• Star Gazer, which improves divination magic through astrological study
• Trial Survivor, which hardens you against fear
• War Witch, which lets you trade a witch hex for a combat feat
• and many more!

The file also describes dozens of academies, temples, cults, covens, mystery religions, and magical schools where characters might have received their training, including Alexandria, Babylonian universities, the Egyptian House of Life, the Eleusinian Mysteries, the Cult of Mithras, necromantic oracles, the Scholomance, Taxila, the Witches of Thessaly, and more.

Background Feats gives your Pathfinder character a past that matters.
