Angel 1-29-03 (Spoilers)

Nightfall

Sage of the Scarred Lands
Wow. I mean that what an epsidose. That was DAMN trippy right at the end. I mean I though "Well nice resolution. Little to happy go lucky at the end but at least it was worth it." I still wonder IF the monk isn't working with the Beast. I mean that whole writing on their body, seems like the beast's style. In any case, kudos for Joss. He made me love and hate this espisode.

This episode was good, then dissastisfying, then good again. I was initially irked that the Beast was so easily destroyed and that Angel and Cordy took the actions they did, undoubtedly knowing it would cost him his soul. I though they should know better, as they were present for the events five years previous. I was very pleased that it ended up being a sort of dream sequence. They better put that glowey jar someplace where it cannot be found (or broken! )

Next time try not to, Todd. :)

But I undestand your thoughts. However while it was cheesy towards the end, it at least made sense. I mean it wasn't THAT easy of a fight.

Yeah this episode left me going wow. I remeber thinking that the plot resembled a badly written D&D adventure. You know The Big Bad can onnly be killed by the magical whatsit. In order to retrieve the whatsit you need to go into the depths of a dangerous dungeon. All highly derivative. I am gglad Joss was able to turn that on it's head.

That was cool. I love a good mind-screw. And that sure was it. I really didn't see the end coming and I love how they did it. What better way to remove a soul than by screwing with the curse that put it there to begin with. That was neat. I had a feeling that something was up but I couldn't figure it out.

I'm REALLY glad this story arc didn't end here. That would have been quite a letdown. Now we can get to the real meat of things. I should have known something was up when Gunn hi-fived Wes. That's just not Gunn. ;)

With Alias, Angel, Buffy and Smallville getting ready for sweeps episodes this should be a great next bunch of weeks for TV.

I thought it was a good idea, and hadn't been done in Buffy/Angel. Very legendary/mythic (but yeah, also very derivative). Of course, that WASN'T the real solution, and the end was pretty cool.

Woohoo! Bring on the good stuff! I watch all of those, plus I'm dying for:
- come on, where's my 24? it's been on hiatus for weeks! this is the longest second of "real time" ever!
- Fox, you bastards! stop holding out on me! It's January and there's only been 5 new Futuramas all year!
- South Park: Kenny's back! Woohoo! Bring it on!

Loved it. :) Near the end I was like "hmm, I know Joss can be campy but this seems a little too sugary." Still, I wasn't expecting what happened. Very nice. I've absolutely loved the beast arc episodes thus far.

Knowing the mantra "characters who are happy are dull", I knew something was up and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. At first I thought that the Beast was just a setup to release Angelus, but I was pleasantly surprised when I was wrong.

Favorite quote: The Beast - "Is that what I think it is?"

LOL...

Whoever the writer of this episode is, they got me. They totally had me good - hook, line, and sinker, all the way to the end.

Even to the point of me telling the Television Set, "Oh, come ON. PLEASE!!! Don't tell me both of them are that STUPID!!!!"

Got me good, they did.

That was a very good episode, and an excellent setup for the next four weeks. I look forward to some GOOOOOOD TV.
