Arcane Eye

I am kinda confused on the spell arcane eye. It states in the description that you cannot enhance the eye with spells or items, but then continues to add in parentheses (But you can enhance your own eye sight normally). What do they mean by that and what consequence does this have for the arcane eye. Also, it is key to remember that the eye is an independent sensory organ, so if the character is blind, he/she can still see out of the arcane eye. Whats up?

It isn't the clearest write up, is it? Well, hope that was helpful.
The way I take it is this: casting Darkvision on the AEye itself would do nothing, but casting Dvision on the person using the AEye would allow it to function with Dvision. If the person were blinded (by bright light, whatever), the AEye would not be. Can the AEye be blinded separately? I would assume so, as it can pass on gaze attacks.
