IMHO, it's a solid game, but kind of missed the whole Howard/Lovecraft vibe, at least in terms of rules. It's basically AD&D 1e with a couple more classes and different flavors of humans instead of elves and dwarves, etc.

OTOH, Crypts & Things really nailed it.
 

I agree that it cleaves very closely to AD&D, minus the demi-humans, but much clarified. I feel like it's a great platform for S&S adventures, and it's probably one of the most successful game at capturing the darker mood and grit of the genre.

I'll have to have a look at Crypts & Things.
