AV2 Excerpts: Immurements

I remember these! Although it's interesting to see that they went from a daily magical item to a consumable.

Immurement? Has anyone ever heard that word before?

Although, the thing I find most interesting is the excerpt lists. I'm most curious what "Story Items" are. And Lair Items, for that matter.

It will be interesting to see what Lair Items are, Story Items make fair bit of sense. But Lair ones? I dunno, they could go various ways.

Though still annoyed no mention of firearms (I imagine if it was in AV2 it would be one of the preview pieces).

It's interesting to see how much they have changed in course of the playtest. From Orb special power to a consumable item. It seems to address many concerns I remember.

Basically means to imprision. Nicely Gygaxian word though.

Ditto, especially the "Story Items", I wonder if it is connected with the "Campaign Items" article from Dragon 368.

As for the immurements, nice idea will be interesting to see how it works out in gameplay.

I'm glad they moved it away from an orb to a consumable. I could see it getting old pretty fast with these prisons popping up every play session. My guess is the designers thought that putting it on a daily item would basically devolve into all the cool drawn out set pieces for BBEG encounters going straight to the prison map.

Firearms? Phooey!

You know how everyone has those idiosyncratic lines they draw where they say "Not in my D&D!"? That's mine. :)

I'm right there with you on that one. Firearm (for PCs) have never worked for me. (Although forgotten robots and stuff from the past always has...)

Hehe, yeah I am quite the opposite, I think every campaign setting I have run has had some manner of firearms. With the usual being stuff like revolvers, repeating rifles, etc. The current one evens has stuff like portable/single person Lewis machine guns. Though most of my settings have a fairly high tech level (portable Difference Engines yes please).

But back to actual subject of the thread. One thought popped into mind with Story Items, doubt it is the case, but be interesting if the full abilities of the item can't be accessed without a discovering it, finding stuff out, etc. Basically you need to go on a adventure to fully use the item.
