AV2 Excerpts: Wondrous Lair Items

A new excerpt from Adventurers Vault 2 is online:
AV2 Excerpts: Wondrous Lair Items

I had missed that AV2 would also contain magical items to be used in your own base. That's interesting.

I wonder if they expand on that elsewhere, too? Will their be rules for creating your own Keeps and gaining followers eventually? (Maybe PHB 3, DMG II or III?)
Or will the support be limited to some magical items.

The cost seem pretty ... stiff. I am not sure if blocking phasing is really worth the money of a 22nd level magic item if it's only 10 squares of wall. I mean, you can make a wonderful Ghost prison from it, but it is pretty costly.

The Door Knocker is awesome, though.

I am not sure how I would handle the Throne. The property seems a little too vague... I would probably rule it being limited to immediate actions - e.g. Brutus wants to draw his knife to kill you, and is instantly stunned. But not that Cicero is planning to write a letter to Pompous Magnus indicating your support for his position and revealing his enemies strategy.

Strange stuff indeed.

And imagine the disappointment when the players have killed the people and try to take their wondrous lair stuff!

I fought one of those once:

Well the preview in august and beyond does mention "companion" NPCs... So maybe to a degree.

Also the Gorgonblood Mortar indicates it can be used in up to 10 contiguous squares of construction- Which kind of gives the impression there might be rules for constructing those 10 contiguous squares?

So, does 4E have an official cask size in the equipment chapter?

Cask of Liquid Gold Level 3
This cask contains a never-ending supply of dwarven ale.
Property: At the start of each day, the cask fills to its full volume with dwarven ale. Any ale taken from the cask evaporates if it has not been consumed when the cask refills.
680 gp

So which is more frightening?

The Tree with the faces in it.... or the Stone and Gorgonblood Mortar Gazebo...

The Gazebo is about to claim two unwarry victims though... and possibly a third...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Oh sweet jeebus! The tree has faces and the people don't!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
