Backerkit vs. Kickstarter Pledge Manager

For years, Kickstarter has flat out refused to offer certain services to either creators or backers. Kickstarter, in many ways, does a whole lot of nothing for how much money they end up with. KS takes their cut, gives the rest to the creation company and says, "Here, you figure it out". KS doesn't even separate the money by backer; they leave it for the creators to manage. That's why pledge management companies came about in the first place - to do the actual work that KS wouldn't do. People always complained when they didn't get their pledge because they never verified it with the pledge management company, but that was KS fault - not the creators.

That KS is now going to start offering this service tells me that they're starting to feel the pinch from companies that are covering the entire service, not just acting as a glorified advertisement platform.

KS has had a pledge manager since early 2025 IIRC.

I think you are agreeing with previous poster's point - Kickstarter has been around since late aughts, and only in 2025 did they concede to have a pledge manager tool.

Hopefully they're doing a passable job - anything that supports the independent creator and makes their path to some sort of equitable payment is good by me.
