Balancing a Large Race

I know being Large in 4E is not as overpowering as 3E, but it's still darn good (Reach 2, large weapons). So what could I do to balance out a Large-sized race and still make it playable at 1st level?
For reference, the race is based on the Confrontation wolfen

I've thought about the following:
Applying a negative ability score modifier (in this case, +2 Str, +2 Wis, -2 Int)
The Large race is already faced with paying double or triple the listed cost for armor, weapons, etc.
A possible -2 or -5 to resist the effects of scent and odor based attacks.. If they even exist in 4e.

Instead of applying a negative (which will hit some characters hard and others not at all), why not only give one +2 to an ability score? I recommend not giving Strength: that will help even out the added damage die. Give the reach instead of the power that most races get.
