Actually, this doesn't necessarily need to be for barding, but can be for any armour made larger than the norm. According to the PHB, such armour is 4x as expensive for, say, a large character vis-a-vis the cost for a medium character. Fair enough.
Now, say you want to have mithril armour. The cost is listed as +X depending on the weight of the armour (say the +1000 for light armour). Is this (Base+1000)x4, or is it (BaseX4)+1000? }
While the former makes the most sense to me logically, given that magic armours are listed as +Y in GP and are not affected by size, and while again that makes sense (doesn't take 'more magic' to make it +1, but it would take more mithril), the nonclementure of +X cost is making me wonder...
