Birds of Prey (comic/television symmetry) (Possible spoilers, I'm not really sure)

I was watching the pilot episode of this last night (I mean.. er... I heard about this show, since of course, it hasn't premiered yet), and I was wondering, how faithful is the television series to the comic?

Generally, I'm a big fan of shows and movies based off comics being incredibly faithful (I'm rarely satisfied), but since I'm not very familiar with the Birds of Prey comic, I don't know what has been changed or whatnot.

Possible spoilers...

For example, it mentions that Selina Kyle (Catwoman) is dead, and Batman has stopped his vigilante ways - both of which I'm pretty sure aren't true in the comics since both the Batman and Catwoman titles are going strong... unless of course Birds of Prey takes place in some alternate Hypertime reality.

We were talking about Birds of Prey here:

As I said in that thread, the TV show is only very loosely based on the comic. Basically, they took a few characters from the DC Universe, radically modified a couple of them, and set them up in an as-Batmanesque-as-possible-without-any-Batman setting.

The comic IS an action series based primarily on one field agent (Black Canary) and Oracle, and that much is still the same.
